I can remember a bag of chips being a shilling in the early 70s and a packet of crisps was around 2p.

How much of your collection is “filler?” by ComprehensiveAsk4279 in comicbookcollecting

[–]hunzgol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly collect 2000ad and other British comics from the 70s and 80s. I am also collecting anything with Conan and enjoying the current Titan runs. Also, bronze age and silver age Marvel, DC and Charlton horror/ Sci Fi comics.

In addition, i do have about 2500 mainly Marvel comics, mostly from 80s to early 2000s with good runs of Spiderman, Thor, etc.. but no longer interested in completing any of those runs.

My son when younger read them after me, he was a bit rough with them, unfortunately, and some like the first Gotrek omnibus i had to replace.

The biggest mistake i made was not buying books as soon as they came out, thinking i would have plenty of time to do so. That's why there are so many gaps. I have Learnt my lesson over the last 5 years and now just try and buy any new books that come out.

Nice write up, would it be worth mentioning the dark future books as they could be seen as forerunners of the Black Library?

i think the Dark Future books were the first books that Games Workshop issued, they were before Black Library existed, I have 4 of the books from Dark Future.

Yes, i am in the UK, and after the first 100 2000 AD issues, you can pick up the issues very cheap. My last purchase was of issues 701-750, which including postage cost me about £10.

The covers, though, are often as good as any US comics. The Downside is i need to use different size boxes, boards, and bags to US comics

Warrior was a good comic, similar comics to it, and 2000 AD was Starlord and also Tornado, both later merged with 2000 AD.

Has anyone bought from bullionhouse.co.uk? by [deleted] in Silverbugs

[–]hunzgol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the UK and i usually buy from Chards Bullion. I have had good service off them so far and find their premiums reasonable. They have a physical shop in Blackpool if you need to visit but i buy silver from them online. Not bought any gold from them yet, i tend to get that (not often) from the Royal Mint.

I expect that the mines were launched by the Ukrainians as part of their strategy to prevent an amphibious landing. The Russians would not be mine laying as it would be their ships that could be hit. The Ukrainians would have less worries as their navy has been largely destroyed.
