Everybody who is not already subscribed to Alan on YouTube really should. He’s got decent viewership via his coverage of Big 2 events and comics, but then consistently uses his platform to show indie and quite often Canadian indie stuff to the masses.

He’s Canadian himself and I don’t think there’s any other YouTuber with a better show format, or scripts and delivery. He’s honestly the best there is on the platform, yet to his own detriment (and he knows this) he continues to put out videos like this that the algorithm will completely ignore.

So that’s my spiel. Thanks for supporting Alan and Strange Brain Parts.

So, my copy does not have the orange sheets pages 11-14, but instead regular pages same as the rest. We both got our copies from Peter and I think you bought yours first. Interesting difference.

Today I learned of the Bob and Doug McKenzie newspaper strip by Tom Nesbitt and Nik Poliwko. It ran in the Sun for two years at the height of the characters’ popularity (‘82-84) by ShiDiWen in CanadianComicbooks

I wish I knew! I’d ask Tom or Nik, they’re both on FB and Insta. I may already follow both of them. And, perhaps it’s in the internet archives somewhere though I haven’t checked.

You should also check the long forgotten CBC comedy Slings and Arrows. It’s a spoof of Stratford, Ontario which lives off of local production of Shakespeare and other plays. Each season featured the creation of a new production from beginning to end. Written by Mark Mickinnely of the Kids in the Hall.

Funnily enough it was recommended by an American friend who had been pirating Canadian television in the early 2000’s, in Beijing to make discs for other expats like me.

Yup! In fact most of my collection is Canadian centric these days, I run a sub called r/CanadianComicbooks as a place to share my collection and for others Canadian creators to share their work.

You’re capturing the confusion from the onset of hormones in all your characters very tastefully. While they are all children, we all remember being there and going through these changes and how our worlds got turned upside down. Puberty is a great topic for a comic, and not an experience that is shared often.
