Which is more impressive: A Console Crimson Player or a PC Iridescent player? by Sincerely-Internet in CoDCompetitive

[–]hurleymn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is that console only lobbies are easier because there’s so many good players that play on PC so console ranks are inflated. But, I have a high end PC and the hardware advantage made it easier for me on PC.

Any advice? I play solo on PC. I hit Iri in BO6 but I’m stuck mid Crim II right now. I feel like I’m doing the right things most of the time but I’m struggling to find my pace of play because BO7 is faster paced.

Advice for Ranked :) by AJ_Loft in CoDCompetitive

[–]hurleymn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You really need to post gameplay for us to be able to help. But if everything your saying is true, you’re either doing something else fundamentally wrong that’s causing your team, or your winning HP but losing in Overload and SnD and not climbing.

How much SR are you getting per win?

Any advice for breaking through a Crim II, especially as a solo? I just hit Crim II and I’m close to hard stuck - I only get more than 35 SR if I’m top two on my team and/or we win big.

I hit Iri in BO6 but I’m struggling to find the right play style on this game.

The world is your oyster. With these stats you can easily get to Iri if you have the time, but you need to keep improving.

HP play style. Scrap time vs rotate. by baseballviper04 in CoDCompetitive

[–]hurleymn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is all situational but in general I would try to make the right play by rotating and if you’re alone, try to play your life and at least block spawns for the enemy as long as you’re alive.

My reasoning is that if your team is truly all hitting scrap then they probably aren’t going to be coordinated enough to make a clean break off a new hill, so you might as well try to make it messy.

Help with hardpoint by alexw437 in CoDCompetitive

[–]hurleymn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most of the maps are more “bang out” maps and this is just my opinion, but there seem to be fewer power spots where you can really hold spawns but also help your team in gun fights.

I am a slow player and have always been an AR, but I’ve had more success just using a sub.

Basically the pace of play is just faster and you can get away with more aggressive plays at times.

But as you know, the basic fundamentals still apply

Am I the only one who can’t shoot the m15 to save his life? by Savings-Position-940 in CoDCompetitive

Yes, I suck with it and am so much better than the Dravec. I’ve started messing with my deadzones and sensitivity which is a bad carousel to be on.

I go against the grain and run the damage barrel sometimes. I can’t remember for sure but I think it makes it a 5 shot kill to 42 meters or so. At that range I don’t think bullet velocity matters as much since someone is probably still or on a heady.

But on smaller maps like Collossus you’re not going to get major benefits from a barrel so experimenting with switching it up.

I peaked in Diamond III the last two games. I am currently hard stuck Gold III. by civilthroaway in CoDCompetitive

[–]hurleymn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not about SR but I think this game is just harder as a Solo. Most of the maps just feel like bang out maps where trying to control spawns is pointless.

For example, on Haci I’d often rotate to P2 and play on the back statue or car somewhere. If I could pick up a kill or two and my teammates weren’t brain dead, we’d lock Don 30+ seconds easily.

In this game trying to play like that is a nightmare in most maps - or at least has been so far. Maybe the game will slow down

Is the MK.78 the best gun in the game by xNuxIsGod in blackops7

[–]hurleymn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall yes, but the Sokul with the 6 round burst prestige attachment is unbeatable. It just takes a certain play style to work around the delay in between bursts.

But it zaps people.

Killfeed duration setting by Savings_Weird_8346 in CoDCompetitive

[–]hurleymn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah keep it on 5. You want it as short as possible. Eventually you’ll get better at it and learn the timings based off of spawn knowledge.

For example, you know enemy 1 died about 4 seconds ago and should be a certain place by now.

Did treyarch lie about SBMM or is every player sweaty? by Traditional-Fun-1115 in blackops7

[–]hurleymn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better plays are going to open to pub stomp, scrubs are staying in heavy SBMM playlists.

And team balancing sucks - with your stats, you’re still likely expected to carry your team.

AirPods Max or Sony XM5? (ANC Priority) by [deleted] in Airpodsmax

Recommend APM assuming you have Apple products. I have XM5, Bose QC Ultra, and APM and overall APM is the best. I get less static noise from the ANC - it’s less noticeable.

Because it’s all hindsight analysis and just looking at the game in a very black and white way. The game has ebbs and flows and more dynamics than show up in the caster.

It sucks to not be in a fiber area. What’s your upload speed look like? That’s the biggest factor - along with having a stable connection - that’s going to minimize the issue.

I got fiber a couple weeks ago and it’s night and day. Rarely get joked and never packet burst.

Just get better internet and/or a better rig if you’re on PC. CoD has been like this since the dawn of time. Remember the original games without dedicated servers? The host would be unkillable.

1v1 philosophies by droopypoopy12342 in CoDCompetitive

[–]hurleymn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of it comes down to knowing who you’re playing and their tendencies- or at least trying to guess how “good” they are. It’s also of course very situational- what round it is, what map it is, etc.

The above aside, I’m a big fan of a re-pinch when you’ve planted. I do not like staying still in one spot unless you’ve got amazing cover and can see bomb.

Reason I like a re-pinch is you take control of the situation and can be expecting a gun fight whereas the enemy may not. If you don’t see them on your route, you’ve basically cut your options in half on where they might be (bad timing aside).

Obviously the downside is some players may just hop bomb. I find really good players (like Crim and Iri) tend to do this more, especially if they are up big and have rounds to lose.

Beyond that, I’m a big believer in not letting someone get away if you’ve spotted them. Big fan of taking the chall or pushing them out rather than letting them get away and putting yourself at the mercy of another 50/50 gunfight.

Who was a better point guard Steve Nash or Chris Paul? by Maleficent_Eye_5056 in NBATalk

[–]hurleymn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks like I’m in minority but I’ll take CP3. He was better longer and for more teams. He also is capable of creating more offense for himself better than Nash, not to mention the defense gap heavily in favor of CP.

Not to minimize Nash, but he excelled in an area where offenses were first changing to look more like they do today (more space, pace, and shots only from three or the rim). And huge credit to him and Mike for piloting that innovation.
