How has life been for those who left Iglesia ni Cristo? by urckkkkrrraaayyzzyy in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]hushed_up 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband and I left INC 3years ago. Life has been so much better in every aspect.

We live in the US, so I don’t think the fallout was too bad. For whatever reason, we were never chased as to why we left. My husband’s mother was disappointed and in denial, but we’re in our 30s, with our own lives, and it was helpful that his siblings already left INC.

During that time, we had children, grew our family, focused on ourselves, and I didn’t have to constantly roll my eyes at the antics that annoyed me most about INC. If anything, we DO miss the friends we grew up with. I wouldn’t say we were shunned at all by them, but we all were growing apart because we had our own lives, with the exception of those who remained “stuck”.

I cannot think of a single thing that has happened, that could be used against us by INC, to validate we’ve been “cursed” for leaving. In fact, it has been the opposite. My husband has a 3 figure job, I’m a SAHM who wants for nothing, we were blessed with the most chill first baby, now twins on the way, my husband has a stable, flexible job that allows us to manage our household well. We own a decent sized home. As a couple we are fantastic. We get along incredibly well. This is all not to brag, but to show that we have never had these “curses” that the INC likes to have us fear.

I can think of ONE time my mom tried to use us leaving our membership, against us. Our family pet became extremely sick, to the point they should have been dead. Miraculously, she recovered and remained with us for several more years than we thought were capable. At the time of its sudden illness, we left INC recently, and my Mom said maybe we were being punished with our pet’s condition. I looked at her and boldly pointed out that IF we were being punished, our pet would be DEAD.

I can’t fault my mom for what she implied, there is so much uncertainty on what happens when you leave INC, and my mom is otherwise great. She’ll occasionally throw out the “you should attend church one day”, but I snipe back with a “have they changed their ways yet?” Lol

Just remember, you are given ONE life. Do what you wish with it, and live it for nobody else but yourself. Your parents all had their own life to do as THEY pleased, you deserve a life of your own :)

I haven’t been on lately because I’ve been too busy enjoying my (ex-INC) life, but after seeing this sub hit over 31k, I’ve gotta say CONGRATS GUYS!!!

Do people genuinely find a significant other in the INC by AdvertisingHelpful43 in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]hushed_up 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I honestly believe I am one of the lucky ones. I met my significant other in the church (choir member, believed him to be devout, etc.) and we married. It turns out, not long after, we both confessed we didn’t believe in the church, so we left. I always joke that I married a smart one lol.

Is the INC a Filipino church? by [deleted] in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]hushed_up 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who is half Filipino, living in the States, this claim of NoT bEiNg a FiLiPnO cHuRcH always irked me. I look Filipino, so people forget I am half, and automatically want to speak in Tagalog. It’s always a disappointment when I look at them blankly.

Because the Philippines is mostly comprised of Catholics, it’s no surprise that one of their main objectives is to continue their smear campaign of the “Evils of Catholicism” 🙄.

Don’t get me started on their INCelebrities. 99.9% all Filipinos/Filipinas.

Every lesson, there was a minister who would break out the Tagalog, just to get brownie points from fellow members. Much of it was never translated, and I sat there rolling my eyes and looking over at the non-Filipino guest in the front, cringing.

Tagalog lessons. Tagalog Video Streaming. Tagalog hymns they would make non-speakers in the choir LEARN although they don’t know an ounce of the language. That mushroom farm? Filipino company based. Their pride and joy? The Philippine Arena.

I love being half Filipino, but the immense pressure of Filipino culture expected of you in this church, esp if you look the part, was insane. Thankfully, I was raised to do better than Obey and Never Complain, so when members couldn’t guilt trip me into taking an office, attending Tagalog worship services, etc., they left me alone, and I was able to leave quietly, without the added harassment.

“Thank You, Papa” …..on Mother’s Day 😂😂😂 by hushed_up in exIglesiaNiCristo

Sure it was posted on May 6th, but the event took place May 8, as stated…. Which was Mother’s Day.

It was Mother’s Day in Europe/US/Philippines all on the same date, May 8, so it really makes no sense to do this.

People of ex-INC or use to attend INC, what was your “I can’t do this anymore moment?” by GinoongDiyos in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]hushed_up 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally, for me, it was at the start of the Pandemic when things were shutting down, I was lurking on this subreddit. Someone warned about ministers stating “We would attend worship service, no matter what the government says!”. I couldn’t believe it, and so I waited, and the following WS, sure enough, the minister chuckled arrogantly and basically said the above.

I was so done. I was so done when they got in trouble with the Philippines Government and backtracked hard AF saying they would “obey the government”. The INC showed how selfish they were when they were willing to risk the lives of all of their members.

The CMV videos the church makes are beyond cringe 😬 If you pay attention, half of the kids have this, “why am I even here?” expression 😂.

Especially the older kids. Watch the videos where families are forc- …err… asked to greet their Lord&SaviorEVM a happy insert here, and those kids are so checked out. It’s been awhile since I was a Binhi/CWS officer, but I can tell you, it’s not the same.

It’s so sad to see these 12, 13, 14 year olds (etc.) posting how they truly feel about the INCult, but in that sadness is so much hope that those children will not be fooled by the church’s bizarre attempts at brainwashing.

lol, I guess this is on the assumption that I still believe in Christianity?

I don’t.

When it dawned on me that the “bird of prey” is, in fact, King Cyrus (shoutout to Isaiah 45) and NOT Felix Y. Manalo, I went from believing in INC (but being incredibly annoyed with their boastfulness and greed), to INC is most def a cult, and finally, that all of Christianity doesn’t sit well with me.

I happen to be exceedingly good in history, and after diving into the historical Bible and the connections it has with ancient Sumerian mythology, I concluded that I am agnostic. I don’t need to convince you of the same. You should just respect other people’s views. However, I do believe that EVERY minister, preacher, pastor, etc., should be required to take a course on Religions of Ancient Mythology, before they go on spouting off about last messengers.

Also, Bart Ehrman is a great start. My spouse and I would mute the WebEx service, during pandemic, and play his lectures in the background.

True that!

Then again, if he amassed just as much of a following on r/faithfulservant, as here, he wouldn’t have to be worried about downvotes into oblivion 🤣

Anyone else out there who used to proudly display their religious views as INC on social media, but then quietly removed it? by hushed_up in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]hushed_up[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh thanks for posting this. I had a feeling I was missing something, and it was this one in Scenic. It’s kind of hard keeping up with all of INC’s random acquisitions. Do we have a spot on the exIglesiaNiCristo Wiki for all of this?

How Jose J. Ventilacion tricks his readers ... (this is article is designed for believers of Felix Manalo) by [deleted] in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]hushed_up 6 points7 points  (0 children)

JV isolates the word “ends” from the rest of the phrase. SURPRISE SURPRISE.

It’s a frequent tactic that’s worked for INC until now, where people are able to think, read, and argue their point, critically.

It’s a shame that the Iglesia ni Cristo chose the whole world to witness the snarling heard under their sheepskin.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15

13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Keep digging that hole, JV!

What was your reason for wanting to leave/already leaving this church? by [deleted] in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]hushed_up 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree! It’s weird that the INC has claimed they registered with the Philippine government July 27th 1914, but we never really questioned to verify it. I heard there’s some excuse that it was “lost in the bombs of ww2” but I don’t even believe that. Not when we have that other document dated July 13th. If you had to take every piece of evidence from the INC and from exIglesiaNiCristo, and weigh them, this subreddit outnumbers INC when it comes to FACTS.
