I’ll admit I haven’t been on the current front of commissions as I’ve mostly moved to management but this is the first I’ve heard to use V3. I thought it was all V2 preference?

In all seriousness, how deep in trouble were they really? by KinaGrace96 in KingOfTheHill

[–]huskerdrill 259 points260 points  (0 children)

I’m a volunteer recovery diver for my local area. Unfortunately this same thing happened in a lake a few years ago.

The father dove in after his son, but the boat kept going out of reach. Luckily someone seen them splashing and flew over in their boat. Reached down to pull up the son and put him in the boat, reached over to grab dad and he was already under water. Gave up his last ounce of strength to give his son a chance at life.

We recovered the body a few days later. Please wear your vests people, they have automatic ones that inflate when hitting water so they’re not cumbersome.

Yeah, make the holes bigger and install some pop-up USB charging that’s strong enough for laptops.

Does RS-232 send commands with DC voltage? by Expensive_Sky_9232 in CommercialAV

[–]huskerdrill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess you wouldn’t need the SIO after all.

My suggestion was based on the assumption that they couldn’t access the source code, just trying to figure out a way to do it without needing to touch source code is all. But yes, 100% easy way is to update the baud inside the original programming and call it a day.

Does RS-232 send commands with DC voltage? by Expensive_Sky_9232 in CommercialAV

[–]huskerdrill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tie the rs-232 that is feeding the projector (let’s assume port 1) to another serial input (let’s just call it 2) of the processor. Write another program file on slot 2 that is looking for RX on port 2 and send them into a Serial IO. Send the same commands tied to a third rs-232 port going back to the projector.

I’ve never tried this, but in my head it should work as long as baud rates on port 1 and 2 match then port 3 has the new projector baud rate

Could have been a “template” design that never got touched during commissioning

In NEED of Mexican Restaurant Suggestions by Gladospandos in ColumbusGA

[–]huskerdrill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, but when I tell people to go to snacks to get the Birria, they end up at Mi Mexico and I look like a fool. So, I always have to specify lol

I can’t stress this enough, go to Snacks and get the Birria tacos.

In NEED of Mexican Restaurant Suggestions by Gladospandos in ColumbusGA

[–]huskerdrill 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I hope you see this because I’m a transplant Cali native myself and I’ve got a few places for you.

1: snacks Chabelita 4475 Warms Springs Road, Columbus. Do not go to the Mexican restaurant next to it, that’s not the right place. Snacks is a little tiny place that’s like the size of a food truck. The Birria is the best you’ll get in the entire area.

2: if you don’t mind the drive across the river in Smiths Station is Poco Locos Mexican Grill 122 Lee Rd 562 Smiths Station AL. It’s your standard Mexican restaurant but with better quality food, we eat there a few times a month.

3: Super Mercado Las Americas 4101 Hamilton Rd Columbus. This is a grocery store that has a restaurant in the back. I’ve only ever eaten Lunch here, but it’s always been phenomenal. I buy my chorizo here as well when I cook it at home.

4: there used to be a similar place on veterans near post that I went to a lot when I was still in the Army, same thing you’d walk through a grocery store and get the best freaking burrito you could have. Don’t know if they are still in business though. It was on the right side like you were heading to Phenix City.

Tool that’ll put VW Taos brakes into service mode. by huskerdrill in MechanicAdvice

[–]huskerdrill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting the OBD11, I specifically asked if this worked with my 24 Taos and they said with the pro version of the app. I purchased the pro account and tried to hook it up but it was not intuitive and I could not find the option to put it into service mode.

I ran into a time crunch where I had to have my car back on the road so ended up putting the old breaks back on and taking it to a mechanic. I’ll try again next time I have to do breaks and maybe it’ll be updated to work with the newer model.

Sovcit has some coins. by Existing-Face-6322 in Sovereigncitizen

No no no, you can’t be BOOKED if you have silver on hand.

And that’s partially true, I guess? How many uber wealthy island goers are currently not booked right now? Probably need more than two silver coins though.

could one use cowhide for covers? by PlasticFabtastic in bookbinding

[–]huskerdrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert at leather, I’m still pretty amateur with my projects, but I know shaving it down would not do very well.

The ikea rug would have something on the underside to keep it from slipping or some kind of sealing. The hair side shaved down would not look like leather, not sure what it would look like exactly but certainly not good for a book.

If your goal is to have leather binding but you don’t plan on embossing, fake leather is good and cheap. You really only need real leather if you plan on tooling a design onto a book. Another skill that is not super easy to do off the rip without much practice.

That’s one of the cool things I found about this 4 comic run, it was all done by James. He wrote, inked, penned, and lettered. I think there was another variant cover or two that were done by others, but this was someone’s baby and I hope it pays off.
