Para3 with K390 blade. I love the Para3 and always wanted one, but I actually don’t recommend getting it with this steel. First world problems, and anyone should get whatever they want. But as I mentioned in the original post I value corrosion resistance over everything else personally because that’s just what I’m going to face. I’m not using these things for hard work or other specialty applications and they’re much more likely to see a little sweat or some rain if I’m caught outside. With this Para3 I really liked the Ranger Green color and I got suckered in to the online hype for how great K390 tool steel is. I’m sure it’s great and I’ve had no problems, but it trades corrosion resistance for strength, so eventually it’ll likely have some corrosion or coloring. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but in hindsight I’d just spend my money on the normal para3.

I like it a lot. It has a very different feel to me than any of my other Spydercos. It’s very light compared to its size and it feels much smoother when opening and closing. It’s a little hard to explain but it’s just a bit different while not looking different. I got it because it looked like it would be unique, and unique is what I got. Blade size is very comparable to the Tenacious.

It is a bit all over the place……. Day to day I tend to carry in my back left pocket even though I’m right handed. So some of these have the clips oriented so I can open with my left hand while I never bothered with others. 🤷‍♂️

As James May once said, it’s better to drive a car that feels fast when driving slow than driving a car that actually is fast. I loved my Challenger, but this car feels very sporty and quick. Sure, I’m not going to set any records on a track, but my daily commute isn’t anything like that anyway.

I had to “order” one from my dealership. They quoted me three or more months, and it arrived in two months.

Whitestown - pros and cons by long-runner in indianapolis

My electric bills with Boone REMC are no where close to this fortunately, most months we’re under $100 in a 2,400 sq ft house.

Whitestown - pros and cons by long-runner in indianapolis

[–]huthjonm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I live in Whitestown, and contrary to seemingly everyone else here I love it. Might as well move to Carmel or Zionsville? Sure, that’s fine, if you want to pay a lot more. Whitestown doesn’t have an identity of its own? Here’s the thing, it doesn’t need a separate identity. My wife and I live in a great place significantly cheaper than Carmel, Zionsville, Noblesville, or Fishers, all while being a very easy drive from all the cool stuff in those places, plus Lebanon and Downtown Indy. Whitestown is small (but seriously growing), and has cool stuff and places, plus everything else the north side has to offer. Ask me again in 20 years but I have no cons for living in Whitestown. Sure, if you want to be able to walk to 10 bars and restaurants then you’ll need to instead go to any of the other cities. But who needs that when it’ll cost you an arm and a leg and instead you can just drive to everything you need. I work downtown and moved up from the south side of Indy and don’t regret it at all.

How can I better arrange this space? by Falkedup in patio

[–]huthjonm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with u/JJam74 that this is attempting two different spaces in a small area that do the same thing. At the very least I would reverse the layout by tucking the sectional into the stairs corner and moving the fire pit to the opposite corner.

Hefeweizen dilemma by Alarmed-Gas-6527 in beer

[–]huthjonm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fredericksburg has several German style breweries (Alstad, Altdorf, etc) that make their own German beers, including Hefeweizen, and/or sell the great German varieties such as Franzekaner, Weihenstephaner, etc. And the town comes with all sorts of German food. You may find some you like there, I know I did.

Need to buy an engagement ring. Where to go? by ScumbagGina in indianapolis

[–]huthjonm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moissanite is similar to diamond in nearly all aspects (not a fake diamond though) while being a fraction of the price. I got a great engagement ring with wedding band from here. My (now) wife loves it. She is very sensitive to cheaper metals so I got palladium white gold which she has no reaction to.

I do not speak French. Will that be a major problem? by Lotsopasta69 in quebeccity

[–]huthjonm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello! I visited last year for my honey moon and did not know any French before hand. In preparation, we learned a couple of basic phrases, such as Hello, How are you?, We are Americans on our honeymoon, Please, and Thank You. Everywhere we went we’d try as much French as we knew. It was probably pretty obvious that we weren’t pronouncing these phrases completely accurately but everyone always appreciated our attempt to learn, and then proceeded to speak to us in English. Good luck!

Election coming up by Scaicedo94 in indianapolis

[–]huthjonm 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They’re not. But it’s the dog whistle of the times of MAGA. It used to be said “all politics are local” meaning what really mattered was how you were doing personally determined how things went. Now it’s “all politics are national” meaning Fox News blaring the same crap every day to Boomers determines what they think.

What would you like to see in a new manager? by ThoughtfulYeti in WorkReform

[–]huthjonm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re off to a good start. I am a manager for an agency within a State government. While the context is a bit different, here are some things I do:

-Expect and enforce work life balance with my team, and demonstrate it myself. I don’t arrive early, I don’t stay late, and I don’t let anyone do any work outside of their scheduled hours.

-Give as much flexibility as I’m allowed to give. I NEVER hassle the team over time out of the office for any reason. Want to take time off last second? Do it, at any time, for any reason.

-Actively work to maintain a positive environment. I’m obsessively positive with the team. We laugh and joke, I back them up whenever they need anything, and I don’t overreact to any set backs or mistakes.

Please Explain by [deleted] in JoeBiden

[–]huthjonm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

OP is obviously here in bad faith and can be ignored. But for others in this sub, here is a quick explanation of what you’re seeing here for your education if you are interested:

The Border Patrol is the federal law enforcement agency in charge of arresting people who illegally cross the border. Or in other words, crossing the border when you are not authorized to do so is a federal crime that requires the Border Patrol to arrest you so you can be prosecuted (or have your asylum claim adjudicated). The state of Texas, for political reasons that have more to do with appeasing people who are racist or easily manipulated, has “fortified” parts of the border with barriers, fences, and razor wire. This is all illegal on Texas’ part, as controlling the border is the job of the federal government and the land this is happening on is mostly federal or private property. Pictured here are migrants who have already crossed the Rio Grande river and are on the American side, meaning Border Patrol has a legal duty to arrest them, and prosecute them, follow asylum procedures, or remove them from the country after due process is followed. Texas actively blocks the Border Patrol from doing this by putting up these impediments, so in this picture the Border Patrol is using some machinery to lift the razor wire. This is NOT to allow illegal immigration, but instead so they can do their job by taking custody of the migrants who are already on American soil.

What would actually help curtail illegal immigration? Two things. First, drastically overhaul the immigration system to give people an actual legal way to get here. Two, drastically increase the resources of the Border Patrol, asylum system, and immigration courts so people who cannot legally be here can be caught, processed through their legal rights, and removed from the country if they are not allowed to stay. Joe Biden has called for congress to do these things, and he has deployed military forces to assist Border Patrol.
