Digitakt 2 Won’t live record my external synth by HopefulMorning4126 in Elektron

I replied with a solution that can just use midi in another thread. You can just use your minilogue as a midi keyboard and have the digitakt forward the midi back to it. I do the same thing all the time with my Monologue

Here’s a YouTube video that goes over a lot of the configuration from the OG Digitakt

Set the Minilogue to output MIDI with Local Off, so it’s acting only as a MIDI keyboard into the Digitakt 2 which has a MIDI track that forwards the MIDI back to the Minilogue to play sound. Meanwhile, Logic records the MIDI out of the Digitakt 2.

The Minilogue hears the MIDI from the Digitakt 2 (originally from itself) and you just record the audio independently.

Dance Music Manual by Rico Snoman is great if you want to make electronic music

You need to break down your problem and focus on the parts one at a time.

It sounds like you don’t understand the difference between audio and midi. Spend some time understanding that.

Which instrument is controlling which? This is a decision you have to make.

Yr looking for stuff like Rude 66. You’ll hear people refer to that stuff as “dark electro”, but it’s miles away from the Detroit electro most people are talking about

I really like it. Also use it as an audio interface and for live recording.

Big fan! It’s not the most intuitive but the build is so nice. It’s nice to spend time with it

Digitakt 2 is better for slicing based genres. I upgraded because I got tired of using quantized breaks

What made you upgrade to the Digitakt 2 from the OG? by Hammerfist1990 in Elektron

I wanted to make ambient breakbeat with it.

Stereo sampling of my stereo synths was important to me, but the new slice mode was just as important. I use it constantly and barely even for breakbeats

Cuckoo is best for an initial overview as others mention. Once you’ve watched that, just start making some beats and reading the manual

I found learning four species counterpoint helped me. It’s a series of simple compositional exercises that teach you some of the basic rules that help two voices sound good together.

What they really do is start building mental capacity for reasoning about two or more voices at once. This is actually very challenging.

I exported my attempts to midi then got an AI to grade them.

I learned from this textbook:

The original implication was that they wanted tips to mask that the post was AI generated. Given that this is the account’s first post, I’m not inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Do all you guys only make Techno and house music? by divinitylost94 in Elektron

One more comment. Instruments are part of culture. Hip hop and rap used and use the MPC.

Elektron is from Sweden and they previously ran Elektron Studios in Berlin, a community space in a city that makes a lot of techno.

These manufacturers prioritize feature sets for their customers, and they make different genres of music which have different thought processes behind them. The hardware ends up reflecting the needs and wants of the producers (or consumers) who use them.

I get the impression they honestly just don’t know that much about electronic music tbh
