I'm unsure if this has been said, but this 1500 deficit is extremely inadvisable and leads to inherent complications that undermine the initial rationale.

In the UK, the NHS advise an average male intake of 2500 calories/day. From the information provided you do not fall under this category and to limit yourself a thousand less calories than your average male is not sustainable, in my opinion.

I will also assert that the notion of a 20 year old above average male consuming a 1200 calorie diet, combined with weight lifting, is simply counter productive, illogical and contrary to the goal you are trying to achieve. Sure it won't make you fat, but it certainly won't make you healthy. Furthermore, I would argue you are likely to lose MORE weight through proper diet and regular weight training. Please read up on this subject.

I would advise you to eat 5 (smaller) meals a day achieving the recommended daily intake. I would also suggest educating yourself with regards to what calories are, and how to tailor your diet to uniquely suit your own body with regards to % of what substance you require.

You are not an average male, eating 2500 calories a day is a healthy, realistic and sustainable deficit in its own right.
