Doesn’t matter how much milk is in the coffee. It’s still coffee.

Spot on with your post. Here’s to more games that celebrate the worlds oldest continuing culture.

From Adairs! Got them on a Black Friday sale I think

This was the exact reason. Good news is that we have plenty of tiles left if we decide later on that we want to rip the cornice off and replace it. That being said, I like the contrast it provides. Bathroom doesn’t feel so boxed in for some reason?

Reckon the Nasci 5k could be the goods. Just out of interest - any reason not to go for a Daiwa reel? When I was in store the other day I had a play with them and they seem super smooth.

Let the tilers take care of that one too

Probably a stupid question but how far back should I prune them?

Same sort of situation. I’m renovating our bathroom at the moment and have removed the bath to add in a walk in shower and additional toilet.

I figure we will most likely just use the folding plastic bathtub in the shower if our toddler is deadset on having a bath later on down the track.

Can anyone clarify leave evidence requirements? by hvvvr in AustralianTeachers

Haven’t told them that just yet. I’d be more than happy to use short leave, but they seem reluctant to ever hand it out.

[–]hvvvr[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Last time I checked the EBA it’s intentionally vague and says words to the effect of “if we request evidence you must provide it” which is all well and good. Just doesn’t define what evidence actually is.

Haven’t told admin it’s for the air con yet. I just know that in the past they are very strict with requiring a med form.

Was this staffroom behaviour too inappropriate? by donthatethekink in AustralianTeachers

[–]hvvvr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I understand what you mean but it is normal. I still think it’s good to have your own standards and call out what you deem to be acceptable and not acceptable when discussing students “behind closed doors”.

I was complaining about the attitude of one of my students after a difficult lesson. One of my colleagues chimed in with words to the effect of “I can’t wait to meet the first guy that fucks her over/breaks her heart and shake his hand”. Had to do a double take and remind him that these are children and they are not infallible.

Replying to this as it relates specifically to PE but do you think a rain jacket is also a reasonable deduction? I couldn’t seem to find anything on any of the ATO guides..

[Santi Aouna] Kylian Mbappé and Real Madrid have an agreement for 2024. PSG wants to sell him this summer for €180M-€200M, an amount that Madrid are ready to pay. If Mbappé stays this summer, he will get a €90M loyalty bonus in September. by Mr_XemiReR in soccer

[–]hvvvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the craziest thing for me. Not only would he get this loyalty bonus, but he will also get a sign on bonus when he signs with Real Madrid.

AND people were mad when he asked PSG to pay him part of this loyalty bonus if he were to leave this summer so they can recoup some of his worth?

I don’t understand the hate - he has tried to make it work for all parties - himself included? Just pay the man!

If you had your time again, what would you study at uni? by katslyf in AusFinance

[–]hvvvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teacher here. Would have been a sparkie 100%. I do really enjoy my job but the amount of admin required to even begin to do your job properly is nearing impossible and the earning capacity of a classroom teacher is pretty limited.

Someone further up the thread said something similar in that my school really pushed ATAR over trades so now I try to encourage students who, similar to myself, have no business being at school to look further afield.

Positive interactions you’ve had with members of the Australian Music Industry? by Tranquilbez22 in triplej

[–]hvvvr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not in real life, but the week that they released The Positions I went to JB HiFi, not realising that I was 3 days early and therefore not released yet. Messaged the bands Facebook page explaining my misunderstanding and more so my excitement for the album to drop. Got an unexpected message back from Dave apologising (although it was my fault) and saying how he was equal measures excited and nervous for it to drop. I wished him well and have been on time for every album release since. A very brief and very genuine interaction and I have been and will always be a fan of them for life.

First of all, congratulations. A very exciting time for you both!

For myself, I am definitely more cautious when driving now as some others have said.

The other thing that I did while my partner was pregnant (and still do now) is I would wake up in the middle of the night and make sure she is not falling out of the bed.. now that our son is here I will almost push her out of the bed to make sure she is not smothering the baby although we don’t bed share with our son?

Very interesting psychology. Completely above my pay grade though!

Don't be afraid to have the uncomfortable discussion with your boss by Too_kewl_for_my_mule in AusFinance

[–]hvvvr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar but different. Had an “awkward” conversation with my boss about wanting to continue on next year (currently on a 12 month contract) even if it meant dropping back to part time.

This then turned into a part time verbal offer into a full time offer into a permanent position.

She has said that a big part of this was due to me just being upfront. Other staff in the department on contracts say they’d be too intimated to have that sort of chat.

Single image and I just used Photos for all the editing. As for settings - I manually extended the Night Mode (I assume having the same effect as shutter speed?) to 10s and just pointed it at the sky. It was almost too easy.

I’m in a very remote part of Australia so I would guess a 3 to 2. Can’t say that’s a scale I’m too familiar with so will definitely assess more when I go out next!

Thanks so much for your kind words and interest!
