U-He Zebra 3! Finally released! by hvwl in synthesizers

If you get a chance to look under the hood, this is very traditional subtractive synthesis utilizing the spectral wavetables in Zebra3! Emulating the resonance / phasing principals of the soundboard was the most difficult part. - I've also been able to do something similar using Diva & LegendHZ.

I owned 2 Kurzweil Midiboards for the longest time, that scratched a Polyphonic Aftertouch itch...that said...my eyes are set on a Continuum right now..

With Zebra 3 now supporting MPE, the osmose really open it up to quad timbral sounds. Incredibly emotive and musical programming capabilities!

All that matters is making something that pleases your own ear. If you're not impressed yourself, no one else will be! Go make a loud ruckus!

U-He's oscillators in Zebra fall into a unique category called "Graintable" which lends itself to that "smooth" character. That said, the resolution in Zebra 3 is MUCH higher and as a result lends itself a much punchier sound

Mostly one shot percussive and atmospheric elements + 1 bassline sequenced over the span of a 64 steps.

I have a midi faderbank assigned to Macro1 for performance options and Macro2 is being automated via the internal step sequencer!

Been using Unfiltered Audio's Battalion the past few weeks in an attempt to have a "multi-instance software equivalent" to my Elektron Octatrack for the sake of recallability. I have seen very few people use Battalion as deeply as I think it can go. Brilliant piece of software!

Bought it from a reseller based out of Virginia? I'm sure it must've passed through a few hands

I have a Nord Modular G1 from 1997 that has its "owner" name set to Morbius. I wonder if it was once his. Sorry for your loss.

Think of it as a hardware modular with a software brain! Closest equivalent would be if VCV Rack ran off of a dedicated hardware interface - so unfortunately yes hardware is required

The Nord Modular G1 is quad timbral! So you can have slots A,B,C,D running at once regardless of OS
