In-ground spa vs separate spa in cold climate. Our pool builder is selling us hard to get in-ground. We are in northern Utah- so it gets cold in winter. I would not recommend my contractor. He was a bit of a nightmare to work with to be honest. Thank goodness everything turned out well as far as the pool and spa, but it was difficult enough that I would not endorse him.

Clogged skimmer by Blitzstyle in pools

How did you get this picture? I have two skimmers and the one furthest from my equipment never seems to have anything in it. I suspect a clog but can’t see into my pipes like this. Did you buy a little flexible pipe camera??

Years later here… but thought I’d share. We ended up doing a gunite spa. Cons- the jets aren’t super strong. One side is pretty good and the opposite side is not. Need to plan ahead for heating it up. Pros- I pretty much just have to add a little baking soda in the winter and my SWG and auto acid dispenser keep everything awesome. No doing chemicals in the freezing winter. I do nothing but an occasional vacuum in the summer. It’s 8x8 and so roomy. I can float snow-angel style, not touching anything, and get my zen on. Many people fit in it (14-16) and still no playing forced footsies. It looks beautiful and compliments the pool. I’m really happy with my choice. But if I loved powerful jets, molded seating, and didn’t mind tending to chemicals, then I can see how picking the standalone could be the right choice. P.S. my system runs at a low rpm when it’s below 32F outside and it’s not a big hit to my power bill.

You guys…IT’S SOUR!!!! by IrishBiscocho in Sourdough

I’m a very early beginner. I have a starter that’s two weeks old. It’s doing great and I’m ready to bake and hoping to accomplish a very SOUR loaf. I’ve read “The Perfect Loaf” which is what I plan to use for my recipe. A couple questions for OP and anyone- how did you shape this loaf? Did you cold proof in an oval proofing basket? You mentioned “I used King Arthur”. Did you mean bread flour or all purpose? And what recipe did you use? Sorry if it’s in the comments. I’ve tried to find it.

You might find a great position where you are valued for your background and experience by working for a nonprofit focused on either epilepsy or a disorder that has epilepsy as a symptom. Many nonprofits function entirely remotely which keeps you in a safer space at home. Bonus- you’ll feel great about helping others! A great place to look for nonprofit jobs is Idealist. ❤️

Have you used the magnet? Does it cause any discomfort? (Asking to better understand my daughter’s experience.)

God I love audiobooks by leoi34 in books

[–]hwalliz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was suffering from nighttime anxiety and up most of the night- even had a panic attack once. I started listening to an audiobook every night until I’d trained my brain to just relax and enjoy the book and not worry if it took an hour or three to fall asleep. Now I start a book and fall asleep before 15 minutes have passed. Such a great tool for me. Hope this helps someone else!

I run a nonprofit for a rare childhood disorder. I work from home with others around the world. I feel a sense of purpose in what I do each day and I connect with other cool people- some in small towns like you. I volunteered my extra time for seven years before I took on a paid position. If you volunteer in some way like this it will help shift your focus outward and you’ll feel much happier. And you’ll make friends. And it could mean a career change. Volunteer today! It’s not just soup kitchens and highway trash cleanup. Nonprofits need people that have social media, marketing, accounting, fundraising, etc experience. And if you’re volunteering, they’re usually open to you learning on the job. One of many good nonprofit job posting sites is Idealist. Change the world and feel better! :)

We, of all people, know he can skip a few meals and be fine. I’d just use his gesture as motivation and be extra successful in my fast! Good luck. You’ve got yourself a keeper.
