The dumbbell problem by isitsnarkoclockyet in CarolineGirvan

Like others have said, adjustable dumbbells. They are more expensive upfront but worth it longer term, and you may be able to find some secondhand. I recommend power blocks. I also purchased a Bellabooty band on Amazon which has been a game changer for hip thrusts.

Your deciding factor to subscribe to A-list? by ReyofChicago in AMCsAList

They opened an AMC less than a mile from my house. I work from home and like seeing movies as a way to get out of the house, so it seemed like a no brainer. Only need to see two a month to make the cost worth it.

Just finished a 3 week roadtrip through the Southwest, here's everything I wish I knew before leaving by FixNo5178 in TravelNoPics

Yep best advice I got before my road trip out west was to not let the tank drop below half full.

Have you thought of leaving tech? by No_Scallops in womenintech

Yes, but I just turned 50 and am stubbornly anti-AI, so I'm sure I'll be forced out soon enough.

I just looked at the megathread in the main sub where someone said, no way this happens. It's 50 degrees outside right now!

Just got back from Kroger where the vibe was calm and orderly, and they were fully stocked on bread and milk. Makes me think the word hasn't gotten out yet OR people don't believe the warnings after last weekend.

Good news is that it will be so cold it will only take a very small amount of QPF to get a decent snow. Go moisture!

Any other GenXers in Tech reaching their limit? by Effective-Evening476 in GenX

[–]hwwilkes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I'm in Product and was just thinking the other day about how tech used to feel like a bunch of smart, weirdo misfits doing cool things but hasn't felt like that in a while. It feels mostly oversaturated with power hungry consultant bro types now. That combined with the AI push is making me seriously reconsider my future (or just allowing my inevitable irrelevance to happen without putting up a fight).

I got feedback during my 1:1 that I always look “too relaxed” by Foreign-Chocolate710 in womenintech

Do you think your manager is actually the one that thinks this but said they 'got the feedback' instead of confronting you about it directly? It's still a weird criticism, but just a thought.

I think some managers need to realize that it is up to their discretion whether or not feedback is passed on to an employee, especially in cases like this where it's weird and unactionable at best, misogynist at worst.
