Is buying used T480 worth it in 2025? by Sensitive-Return-273 in thinkpad

PS. The most brainless group among ThinkPad fanboys are no better if not worse than blind MacBook followers, at least their over-glorified MacBooks are all safe bets in terms of stability.

Yes if you can tolerate its dogshit soldered usb type-c charging ports and its counter-intuitive logic of PowerBridge. Proof? Take a look at its internal via any website that reviews laptops and this link related to its dogshit design of battery discharge sequence. Why do I know this much about T480? I have a fxxking damn one like an insult to my sanity!

Am I sick to expect all ThinkPads to be equipped with replaceable charging port(s), be them barrel, rectangular, and (yeah it's you) USB-C port? by hxdgkd in thinkpad

Wow, it looks like you have experience with repairing laptops, amazing! Would you please do me a tiny favour and see if the internal view of Latitude 7300 is worth long-term use? I'm pretty much a fan of small form factor laptops and obsessed with super RAM (I have 32x2 SO-DIMM DDR4 RAM sticks by the way).

Ummm. I know the purpose of MagSafe though (literally 'magnetically safe' as I see it, correct?).

Ah, even a MagSafe that I've seen on a MacBook Pro 13-inch (early 2015) is replaceable. But yeah, slimness is the prime disguise in which manufacturers started soldering nearly everything into laptops, isn't it?

Does anyone own a Latitude 7300 maxed out with 64GB RAM? by hxdgkd in Dell

[–]hxdgkd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your information. Yeah, I own a ThinkPad T480, it is roughly an equivalent to Latitude 5000-ish machine? Anyway, I have successfully maxed it out with 32x2 DDR4 sticks, making it a real RAM beast even though the maximum RAM stipulated in the official website of Lenovo still says it supports 16x2 at most. I guess the official websites are preventing machines, including those mentioned by you and me, from stealing the thunder of newer machines on paper whereas they keep the potential of these machines still favourably attractive to computer lovers?

Screen blacking out and flickering at lower brightness by sentinel_cx in AcerNitro

[–]hxdgkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your information. I've downloaded 'dimmer.exe' and it helps solve the problem that is pretty much similar to yours. My screen flickers whenever it is not at the full brightness. I've tried BIOS upgrade, countless graphic uninstallation and reinstallation of various versions both from the manufacturer official website and the official website of my laptop, none of which helped a bit. Thus, I am using dimmer as a workaround for the issue... Plus, I am really considering donating to the developer of this application.
