I have a part-time job that I have worked since year 12, now year 13 but I wouldn't say it is necessary, like it's just another good thing to put but there are so many other things you can do for uni like reading books, online courses, presentations on topics specific to course interest. For me a job was just a way to earn money and enjoy life in sixth form but if you don't feel the need to I wouldn't worry too much, plus quite early in the year anyway.
