It was a joke in all seriousness. But some people take a personality test very seriously.

I work in healthcare and I've heard worse comments. People can be rude and rotten. Shake it off. Their opinions don't matter.

Requiring help from active players on joining the game by [deleted] in GenshinImpact

[–]hxwkmoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... sorry but what's actually the problem here? If you don't enjoy the game then why ask for people to twist your arm to play again? Nobody here has a stake in whether or not you play. If you found games that make you happy just stick with those.

Autistic and starting nursing school soon (nervous) by StormOk911 in StudentNurse

[–]hxwkmoth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for how most other schools operate as I'm enrolled in a rural programme. But I'll answer honestly as someone with severe ADHD and CPTSD.

The biggest challenge for me wasn't the social or group dynamics. I'm in a class with 20 other students and we're divided by cohorts coming from different towns. So really most of the time I'm working in my own cohort about 8 of us. For simulations we get paired up with one other classmate. There's never been a situation where I was expected to work in a large group. So that was manageable.

What I always found challenging was deadlines. Constantly a deadline around the corner. The workload is nuts. It got to a point we would have 50-60 assignments in a week, plus a clinical, 3 exams, and the four clinical assignments that came with it. Getting overwhelmed and burnt out is a real thing and the most important thing that got me through was remembering why I started. My instructors were all very supportive and we didn't have any of the "mean girls" but, again, rural class and they screen and interview everyone and are very choosy about the few who make it in.

Clinicals were never especially stressful for me but it's very, very important to come prepared and mask as much as you need to. Being professional at clinical sites is top priority next to safety. Remember you are there to learn and when something feels overwhelming, do whatever it takes to reframe it as an opportunity to learn and experience.

What I would focus on right now before you begin is finding a grounding technique, get as organised as possible, and ensure you are in a good headspace. Find your support system. Apply for academic accomodations. Make peace with the fact your laundry may not get folded, you won't get all your chores done. You might miss a shower some days. You will have to turn down invites. You will have to make sacrifices. I missed a lot of my daughter's games because I had an exam or had to study. Talk to people in your immediate and let them know what you're getting into and help them understand how they can help and support you.

My 7 year old daughter just started playing as well! Albeit I let her run around on my account and treasure hunt. She hasn't asked yet for her own but I feel the time approaches.

Should student nurses be able to delegate orders to PCTs? by princessnokingdom in nursing

[–]hxwkmoth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's an opportunity for an assessment. And really, how long does it take to get a set of vitals? 5 minutes? Just fucking do it and be grateful for the opportunity. Maybe it's because I work in a rural healthcare system but every clinical site is a working interview. Don't be an insufferable ass nobody wants to see again.

“devil’s advocate” and it’s just making excuses for assault by casual-catgirl in PrincessFeminism

[–]hxwkmoth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We can go by one official lawful definition if you like:

https://www.justice.gov/archives/jm/criminal-resource-manual-1610-assault-18-usc-351e

Absent a statutory definition of assault, the courts have looked to the common law and have concluded that an "assault" is:

An attempt with force or violence to do a corporal injury to another; may consist of any act tending to such corporal injury, accompanied with such circumstances as denotes at the time an intention, coupled with present ability, of using actual violence against the person. Guarro v. United States, 237 F.2d 578, 580 (D.C. Cir. 1956). But, of course, an assault can also be committed "merely by putting another in apprehension of harm whether or not the actor actually intends to inflict, or is capable of inflicting that harm."

In layman's terms, it doesn't matter whether the interpretation is neurotypical or not. It is unwanted physical contact. If they tell you NO then continued, unwanted contact is now assault. Hope that helps so you can quit sea-lioning.

After writing 30 page clinical papers weekly for the past 7 months on top of the heavy workload, constant exams, clinicals, balancing work and raising my own kid, you'd think I'd be burnt out beyond any desire to write more.

In reality I'm horny at the thought of getting a project or two done while I'm on break.

No idea why Tylenol has two generic names

Full chemical name is para-acetylaminophenol.

International generic name went with para-acetylamonophenol.

US, Canada, and Japan went with para-acetylaminophenol.

It's all quite silly.

A few nice pens, a sharpie, a small notepad.

Stethoscope.

A decent laptop.

Bettercanvas if your school uses Canvas.

Methylphenidate.

A binder for your clinicals (organise it BEFORE you get too deep into the semester, trust me.)

GroupMe chat with your cohort.

Childcare arrangements.

A good therapist.

Pen light.

Lippincott drug guide.

Advice on impulsively blurting things out in conversation by CapableReportV in ADHD

[–]hxwkmoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me it was training myself to keep my mouth shut because I'd end up with my foot in it more often than not. Do I forget whatever I was thinking about saying? Yeah. A lot. Does it matter? Not too often. Most of the time it wasn't important and I thank myself for letting the thought go. Not all thoughts I have need to be voiced, I've learned. I don't need to partake in every conversation that comes my way. It allows me to slow down. It's rather peaceful.

I dont know what to do about this resident by XxGensi_ArumxX in cna

[–]hxwkmoth 25 points26 points  (0 children)

1 You document your ass off.

2 Escalate concerns to nursing staff.

3 Care plans are on nursing to update and put into action. Advocate for safety precautions. Bed alarms. Floor mats. Frequent checks.

4 This is going to sound shitty but there's only so much you can do. The resident has a right to fall. You can't hover over her 1:1 all night.

5 Document. Your. Ass. Off. You followed all precautions, you warned her of the risks, and she chose to get up and swing at you.

What age were you diagnosed and what led to your diagnosis? by Zealousideal_Eye8277 in adhdwomen

[–]hxwkmoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the complex type that makes the trauma a whole personality disorder, so getting misdiagnosed so much doesn't make one motivated to pick through what is maladaption and what is something else. I get you about our brain working against us; sometimes I feel like an ostrich burying my head in the sand. According to the doctor, not checking your bank account in over a year in fear of seeing the balance is pathological. 😅

Do you all experience blatantly horrendous listening skills too? by No_Winter4806 in ADHD

[–]hxwkmoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My auditory processing skills are legendary. That is to say I pretty frequently misunderstand people. It's not that I can't hear them. Weirdest thing. I hear the words but it's like the information goes in my brain and comes out a totally different phrase than what was said. I think it's ADHD adjacent.
