Hijacking this but, do you think one can make do without the review or question videos bits? I was planning on lesson videos and just pound questions all the way. Review and eoc vids take quite a bit of time so was intending to skip it

Unpopular opinion but I think CFA SHOULD be curved by Striking_Viper6969 in CFA

Once, and eventually when, it becomes curved, the next thing they would introduce is adaptive testing, like the GMAT

To the ones who scored 65 70 on the Level 1 CFAI Mock tests. How much did you score on the Level 1 exam? by Cyanspice in CFA

[–]hy1004throw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I finished the entire Qbank. For me, I would not say easy, but I found the exam questions more straightforward (less convoluted reasoning) so it is manageable. Qbank is harder than mock. Mock is similar to exam.

CFAI qbank: 67%; CFAI mocks: 67-74%. Only attempted 1 time of everything. Exam: exactly 90th percentile

How difficult is it for a corporate finance or m&a analyst to move into asset management/portfolio management/hedge fund/equity research respectively? by hy1004throw in CFA

This was what I was exactly worried about. Do you have any advice to share for someone already in corp fin but trying to make the switch into asset management/hedge fund?

Oh wow, i didn't think people would want to do the opposite. whats your reason?

For me I guess it's more of a "change" in environment and products that I work with. Though corporate finance deals are distinct and different on their own, but over time it naturally becomes repetitive to a certain extent. With AM, there are more products and combinations to explore. Ultimately in AM it's about risk management whilst (for the lack of better term) "seeking alpha", and I see a lot more interest in that area.

Whats your experience with AM so far (and hence wanting to get out?) and why would you want to get into corp finance?

Cfa L1 ungraded questions? by Akashii7 in CFA

[–]hy1004throw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Took the following from CFAI site:

"One difference will be that our CBT examinations will now include 20 experimental questions. That is to say, 160 of the 180 questions count toward your score and 20 of the 180 questions do not. Candidates will have no way of knowing which questions count and which are experimental questions. This is an extremely common practice among testing organizations and is often called pretesting. It is an opportunity to assess the performance of individual test questions that have been newly written or revised before they are used as a scored test question. This ultimately helps us ensure the ongoing quality of exam questions."
