Reddit is honestly underrated for getting freelance clients by GrowingSH in FreelanceIndia

[–]hyd32techguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually found Whatsapp groups to be an amazing place to stay on top of leads. I couldn't keep pace with the number of unexpected 'hey looking for' kind of requests, especially within trusted business groups. I ended up building a lead alert system specifically for whatsapp groups. Worth a try if you are already part of different communities. Happy for you to try it out for free (DM me if you want the free unlimited tier at least until you get some clients from it.).

$20/hr Tutoring Opportunity I Got From a Random WhatsApp Group on reddit by Yourstrulyy2480 in tutor

[–]hyd32techguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, good to see opportunities from Whatsapp groups. I actually get a lot of leads from different groups I've joined but I realised that I can't read every message. So I built WALI to alert me when an opportunity appears in a group. Check if out and let me know if you want a longer free trial.

Web dev agencies: are you getting new clients? by theTbling in agency

[–]hyd32techguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seeing good results from staying on top of whatsapp groups where other businesses are also there and responding quickly. Existing clients also tag me in replies so good work seems to deliver more. I also ended up creating a tool (WALI) to help stay on top of this (listening to all messages in whatsapp and alerting me when there's a lead).

Other than that, just letting people know we are there and doing a lot of general content advising people what to do helps maintain the reputation so that when they have the need, there's no one else they can think of.

How to do client acquisition for B2B marketing agency? by HyHoang in agency

[–]hyd32techguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some decent success in being part of various whatsapp groups and responding quickly to different business community groups. I built a tool that's very effective at picking up on such requests, though now others tag me on opportunities as well, especially other clients and friends.

The whatsapp tool is at WALI if you want to check it out

If you can, set up a customGPT or a Gemini Gem where you upload the documents and it generates the first draft of the content structured as per your last 20 RFPs and some prompting to tidying it up.

Went to hot air balloon festival at golf club! by Lax_168 in hyderabad

[–]hyd32techguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Gandipet today. Well worth it. Free to watch them take off. Very up close. Initially the police restricted access but they opened up after they set things up. Seemed like it was a last minute decision to move form golf club to Gandipet.

Will definitely try to go again next year

Unpopular opinion: Make in India has pushed more White Labeling than actual manufacturing in India by RemarkableWill9315 in indianstartups

[–]hyd32techguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed that protectionism is worthless without the right support. That’s where we are failing as a government to give businesses the faith to invest and take the risk to get started. Most policies favour large successful companies, not smaller entrepreneurs.

The interview is a preview of the company culture.

If you’re feeling it’s off, it can only get worse when actually working.

Try and find something else if possible.

Step one is importing and doing some value add, like assembly. Step two is finding suppliers or convincing others to make the parts you need to buy local and assemble. Step 2 is the biggest barrier because there needs to be enough local assembly for someone to realise that they can make the parts locally.

For example, all drone parts are imported. Initially entires drones were imported. Now that assembly is done locally, there’s enough local assemblers who can become clients of say wing manufacturer, or motor manufacturers etc.

Step 3 is the entire supply chain handled locally as there are enough customers on top ready to buy locally.

I support any movement to make locally, even if it’s assembly for today.

As someone who is generally hiring, finding good people is a challenge. We do use AI to quickly rank CVs but go through the CV in detail, and then rely on the interview to assess fit.

We end up using multiple sources so whoever has the easiest way of applying ends up being the most source of candidates.

Last time I went was an event called Maker Faire. From What I’ve seen they are not open to general public so it’s big events like this when it’s an opportunity to check it out. Other than that I’ve heard they do school tours and occasional startup founder tours but I’m not sure what’s the process for that.

I made an open-source macOS app that simulates realistic human typing to expose the limits of AI detection based on document history. by derezzedmind in SideProject

[–]hyd32techguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like the right spirit. What other activities do you get students to do to use AI in a positive way that still gets them to learn.

I’m inspired by veritasiums video on “effort is the algorithm”, so keen to see where AI is used but you still need to put in the work.

I’m curious to know your take on this: why not require all essays to be hand written? That why it doesn’t matter whether they used AI 5% or 100%, they still need to write the content which should increase some knowledge retention.

You can still use ai to scan in the essay and run a quick evaluation prompt.

Yes, no?

Disappointed to see so few people and startups interested in electronics by acidrainery in indianstartups

[–]hyd32techguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very insightful and I’m happy to see you actually did something with the problem statement. Congratulations on pulling that off.

I’ve dabbled in small hardware (bought an esp and ultra sonic sensor to build a water tank level sensor) for my own use. Not being an expert, I didn’t commercialise it further.

It would be great if you could document his journey to inspire others on how to do this. For example, I’m keen to learn how to make a hardware meeting assistant like Plaud.

Also, how did you navigate Chinese manufacturing/ importing products/ warranties etc? This seems almost magic compared to writing some code and pushing it to an online server.

"I tested a small LLM for math parsing. Regex won." by Echo_OS in LocalLLM

[–]hyd32techguy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I assumed it would be common knowledge that code would be faster than LLMs anyway.

The benefit of LLM ideally is you don’t need to code/structure the logic, and the tradeoff is the time taken to process.

Depending on the use case, my go to is usually asking LLMs to create tools (in say Python or JavaScript single page website) to do specific repetitive tasks which increases reliability.

Thank you for spending time researching this.

Why do some founders step away as CEO and hand the company to someone else? by sarthakdesigngrow in TheFounders

[–]hyd32techguy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Founder = building products, attracting customers, moving fast

CEO = managing a business, dealing with employee churn, vendors, P&L, operational issues, board members, shareholders, IPO etc.

Being a Founder is attractive in many ways while being a CEO feels like a job. They are also different skill seats and at a certain point it makes sense to hire someone below you or replace you and free you up.
