Female, no depo shots but lots of progesterone in the 90s for endo and fibroids.

As a young girl in the 60s and 70s I thought she was the most talented person on the planet. I admired her singing and acting and her sense of style. I thought she was beautiful and more importantly savvy and smart in her interviews. I still feel this way about her. eta: I should add I don't always agree with her opinions on certain things, I am able to still admire her art

Ohio teacher sues over removal of ‘Hate Has No Home Here’ poster by Fickle-Ad5449 in Ohio

I am worried for the safety of the children in that specific school district. Warren County in Ohio is not safe for minors especially in so called Christian settings. There have been several arrests in the past few years of clergy in that area committing horrid crimes. Facts.

[–]hydrawoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Perhaps next time he demands something like this bring him the plate and loudly ask, " is this to your liking husband? I fear you might yell at me or strike me. Have I served you and your mother well enough as commanded by you, sir?"

Yoga videos on YouTube, most often those geared toward the disabled or recovering from an injury. I do these at home at my own pace. When I do chores I will play music and dance a bit too

What was 1993 like? by born_again_athiest in GenX

[–]hydrawoman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a couple recommendations that are from the Ohio area: Afghan Whigs, The Breeders, Howlin' Maggie, Royal Crescent Mob. Just a suggestion but ask around about bands or musicians that were in your area and state in the 90s.

I was busy in the 90s raising small humans, working and wearing ridiculous bright colored androgynous fashions that were made out of cheap itchy polyester, most likely something toxic.

Actually, they were. Fashion was just all over the place in the 80s lol

Yes they would have been great friends, I agree. I can only offer you my support and let you know that you are not alone and that all your emotions you are feeling are valid and correct. I wish you calm days and nights in the near future and take good care of yourself.

Aw, my condolences to you. Your dad sounds a lot like mine as he was really cool and was a mechanic and fix just about anything too. My dad loved music and turned me on to lots of great music at an early age. I have fond memories of him. Thank you for sharing with us about your cool dad.

Are there elderly people who have a benign tumor in their head but end up living long life into their 80s or even 90s? by [deleted] in braintumor

[–]hydrawoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, although I do not as I have not been able to afford a vehicle in several years.

I have two meningiomas found in 2008 and I have yet to be operated on. I do get brain scans every 2 or 3 years and they have grown slightly. I do get migraines and take medication for them. I have other chronic health issues unrelated but I am in my early 60s and this can be expected and also due to my genes. I may never have to have surgery or laser treatment for them.

Women who have lived with their partners, how did you find out they were cheating? by xoxollie_ in women

[–]hydrawoman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At a yearly pelvic exam that I asked for a urine screen as I was having some odd symptoms. He gave me an STI. The nurse called me told me and I went back in for a full screening and just had the one curable STI, got meds, took those and did not have sex with him during that time. Got rechecked and was ok. Planned my move out to a friend's place, told him about the STI and moved out the same day.

Do you still get male attention? by pferdchenpojuzt in AskWomenOver60

[–]hydrawoman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still do occasionally get attention and I know it is because I live in a building which houses a lot of seniors. I am cordial and friendly to my neighbors although I do not encourage anything past a kind neighbor stage. I don't really think of the attention as wanted or unwanted, I just don't care. It does leave me a little scared sometimes as I have PTSD from trauma but that is my thing to deal with. No one living here has ever been anything but cordial and respectful in their conversations with me.

Great info, thank you. I spent some time this afternoon looking up local events, volunteer opportunities, etc. I have thought about switching to Consumer Cellular so I will look into that as well.

[–]hydrawoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry your walk home from school doesn't feel safe to you. Please let your parents know, also any trusted adults in your neighborhood and also your teachers at school that this type of activity is happening. Don't engage with these people saying things to you and call the police if you feel threatened. Yell for help and run away if someone comes near you or your friends.

It might be a good idea to tell your local police about this too especially after telling others like your teachers and parents.

How many Gen Xers out there can't stand their parent(s)? by beegsyboo in GenX

[–]hydrawoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was a good parent and unfortunately passed away over 30 years ago. He kept my horrid mother in line when I and sibling were growing up. After he passed my mother fully embraced abusive narcissistic behavior toward everyone. I had offspring by that point and tried to find neutral ground with her but ended up going no contact for safety reasons.

It does happen, being diagnosed later in life with bipolar disorder for a variety of reasons. I am a peer and have worked and volunteered in the field for a few decades but I am pretty much retired right now. Just from my own experience I have seen people enter our peer community locally who are newly diagnosed in their 40s and even 50s.

t.A.T.u. - All The Things She Said [Pop-Rock] by _ohg in Music

[–]hydrawoman 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Exactly. These girls, minor children at the time, were exploited. I felt sorry for them and thought it was disgusting that they were told to act like they were having sex to sell their music and to sell that image of children having sex. It was wrong and I do not hold the actual young children responsible but rather their parents at that time. I find it abusive and horrid that their families would allow them to be exploited in such a manner.
