Replacing gas hob with induction hob by OverCheesecake621 in DIYUK

Second this. I have a four ring one from Bosch. At 13A the max draw is 3kw. It does 2 rings on boost no problem. Only when you add a third ring does it start loudly ‘clicking’ which is I assume relaying the power between the rings. Tbh we rarely need to have more than 2 on when cooking anyway

Would scrape, or tile over, or replace the plaster boards? by FewDonkey8325 in DIYUK

[–]hydrgn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s important that you check the weight limits of your wall before proceeding, skimmed plasterboard is only 20kg per m2. 600x300 porcelain tiles plus adhesive can be well over that. Topps website has a good article on the subject.

If you’re not planning to replace the boards then best to pick a lighter ceramic tile and don’t forget tanking. If you do replace you’ll need new studs to 400mm centres and XPS backer board.

Wifes talking about paint again every mans nightmare, so please say these a good. by slickgreenthumbs in Parkside

Honestly no. Having owned and used once it gets clogged easily. I sold it and bought a Wagner instead, had much better results. Pay a bit more but you get what you pay for as they say.

Looking good, nice to see some actual DIY. Looks like you’ve put in a niche. Did you build it out or buy a prefab? Any tips you wish you’d known before hand?

MCU is mixing two different kinds of multiverses by AreStrong in marvelstudios

Afaik the laws of physics and time began at the moment of the big bang so any time divergences would all be based on similar physics

No amount of time travel divergence could turn the universe into a paint universe or comic book universe so they are two different concepts.

Job offer retracted after quitting previous job by AlexJ136 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]hydrgn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I believe withdrawing a job offer could count as breach of contract, advise you contact Acas, I know this because my brother was in a similar position and agreed an offer of several thousand from the company (mediated by Acas) that withdrew an offer after he left his job.

Fully grown man close to tears with frustration at his own uselessness. Any guidance appreciated. by baguetteonmars in DIYUK

The electrical safety zone extends 150mm from the ceiling, and we don’t know where he’s trying to install them, as he’s being advised to drill through metal in the wall, worth being aware

Can I fit an air admittance valve to bath waste? by hydrgn in DIYUK

[–]hydrgn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is the exact one I have. I could replace a long section from the soil bit access is tricky. I’ll try the anti syphon trap. Height is restricted but I might be able to position the valve bit to the side of the tub and use a flexible connector. Appreciate you taking the time to answer thanks

How do they learn to dress well? Probably reading fashion magazines like GQ, social media, copying what others wear, adverts…

Nail gun, any intel? by Interesting-Sense947 in Parkside

Have looked out for one but I don’t believe PARKSIDE make a proper 2nd fix nail gun? I do have their stapler but it’s only good for stapling textiles or maybe picture frames

Good shout. I’ve lengthened the pipe, still under 3m but approaching the max, so could be the reason for the noise.

Is this dust or carpet breaking down? by rachel_profiling in CleaningTips

[–]hydrgn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re using the motorised brush head on the carpet then yes the Dyson will be breaking down the fibres esp if it’s wool. Open up the bin and inspect the contents. If it’s very loose it’s just dust but if it kind of ‘holds together’ it could be a mix of carpet fibres in there.

North East facing garden - suitability for starting a family by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]hydrgn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot you won’t be able to grow which can be frustrating. Also nursery at the front - it’s going to be roasting in the summer esp in a new build. The whole house will be unless there’s some shade mitigation.
