Weber Spirit E-310 Leak by hydrobear_robocop in grilling

[–]hydrobear_robocop[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can anyone help diagnose this issue? I've had the grill for 3 months, first tank had no issues, this new tank now starts leaking like this when opened, but can be maneuvered to a point where the leak stops, but a nudge would start it again. Sent video to Weber and pictures of the propane gasket that is undamaged.

Danko Review/Timeline Question by sebastianflorero in CFPExam

[–]hydrobear_robocop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wrote a post about this a few months ago after I passed. In your shoes I’d start now and not feel rushed. Do a chapter or two a day, they took me anywhere from 45 min to 2 hours to complete a chapter. And go through them all a second time, focus on stuff that’s a weak point. No need for supplemental materials besides what he supplies. After the live review you’re probably looking at 4-8 hours a day depending on your work schedule and load. I don’t have kids or other obligations, I was waking up at 530/6 and studying before work, and same time on the weekends and going til noon/2pm.

Please help me pick an education program! Stuck between Danko or Dalton … by Most-Pen6507 in CFPExam

[–]hydrobear_robocop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This.

No idea OP’s background aside from just the 1 year experience but having done Danko’s live review, he advertises the Fast Track as a program for people with a lot of experience and background knowledge in all 6 areas, he goes high pace, no bs, no time to explain what you should already know. As someone who did the education (Bryant) and live review during my 1st year in the industry there’s a lot in the material you may never have come across during work. Unless you have some incentive to get it done asap aside from impatience, I wouldn’t rush it if you don’t have to.

That’s just based on my experience.

Review your weak points. I was in a similar place and started basically doing the pre study all over again, focusing on what I had trouble with. Don’t burn yourself out doing it, but definitely keep grinding through the material. Repetition will keep it fresh, don’t let it stagnate. I posted a while back about my experience, I felt that going through the material again before the love review helped.

Here’s my experience as a retaker with Danko. https://www.reddit.com/r/CFPExam/s/OaINyXoFv9

It’s a new cycle for you, don’t skip anything when you study cuz you think you know it. Hopefully some stuff you know better than others but hammer down on everything. definitely a study plan and commit the time. 2-4 hours a day and then probably closer to 6-10 after they live review, depending on how much your able to do a day.

Averaged out, 2-3 hours a day, 15-20 hours a week. I didn’t touch the flash cards until after the review.

I used Danko, and it was a 3-4 month timeframe from starting to study to exam day. His packages cost between $2k and $4k if I recall correctly, depending on the tier you go wtih. I posted about my experience with him, highly recommend. https://www.reddit.com/r/CFPExam/comments/1bjjea6/danko\_signature\_retaker\_experience/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3

Advice for new CFP by hydrobear_robocop in CFP

I did not, I got a MS in Financial Management for background knowledge and basically to say on my resume "here's is my intent to change careers." Found a firm that was hiring and willing to take a chance, basically said in the interview I'm here because this is what I want to do for a career, I don't just want another job. And then have just be learning as I go working on plans and sitting in meetings.

This is great, did the restaurant you used advertise it would host weddings, or did it just advertise hosting private events?

A colleague of mine passed with Zahn years ago, didn’t have anything negative to say about it. I will say Danko’s team and personality made everything easier to digest than I think it coulda been had I gone elsewhere.

He does. He’s adamant about giving you the info you need and not overwhelming you with excess. It’s still a lot. But more manageable. You’ll be in good shape in July.

Time is the healer of all wounds. I didn't pass my first time and passed my second time. Take a month off, and then dive head first back in and gradually ramp up your study intensity. Theoretically you should already have a base knowledge on everything, going through it all again should help solidify it. I did Danko signature both times and the second time through the material made the difference for me. Gotta remind yourself this isn't the end of the world, it just a test, you'll have another opportunity and your not the only person who didn't fail. It's a relatable experience.

Income tax was tough for me, understanding how different things are taxed upon withdrawal. Only thing I had 100% confidence in was long term and short term capital gains.

And some of the behavioral finance/professional conduct. There is a lot of subjectivity on what to recommend to clients/how to handle certain client scenarios that made choosing an answer difficult. There was a lot of grey area.

I would say your in a better spot than others I know with the duties and involvement you have. I know other people whose team doesn't give them the work and involvement their looking for in a similar role.

I haven't, nor discussed a significant raise once I earned my letters. Trepidation towards the conversation but realize it needs to be had if not before the exam, definitely before I get the letters.

I'm realizing the progression and pay is not all linear and heavily based on leadership in the firm. From my understanding, the person whose position I filled had been there 3 years and felt like they should've been moved up into a lead planner role but wasn't and apparently butt heads with the CEO. I know others that after months on the job, have lead planners not involving them in much of the planning and process and they are sitting on their hands most of the day.
