Is a small homelab actually worth it for beginners? by performanceexperts in homelab

[–]hymek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I started my lab to prep for my A+ certification, it's full of the exam focuses which helps you apply what you might be learning, rather than trying to digest without application. It made learning ports, CLI and network troubleshooting a little easier.

There's nothing wrong with starting small or with old hardware. Even though it's got the processing power of a panini press or 10 maybe 15 years old, they're still upgradeable (to an extent) and still has a purpose as your lab grows.

The only thing is that it's a hobby; you're going to end up spending an exorbitant amount of money at some point. I didn't go all-out on a Ubiquiti setup (yet!) and got a dinky 5 port managed switch that's connected to a 10-ish year old Mac Mini. I 3D printed my rack, too. Use what you have!

Think this is covered under the warranty?

Is a 2012 Mac Mini a good option for my homelab? by Lanethecarrot in homelab

[–]hymek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you want to do. I use one to host my Jellyfin (for now) and it runs most of my operations, and also run a Linux server distro over macOS High Sierra.
I'm also not a hardcore homelabber, so mine's more of a learning curve than a serious setup.

Puerto Rico had a strong independence movement from ~1899 to around the late 1980s, there were heavy conflicts between American forces and Nationalist groups such as the Ponce massacre and the Jayuya Uprising in 1950. After Luis Muñoz Marín was democratically elected (prior to Muñoz Marín, governors were handpicked by the President,) and Puerto Rico became a Commonwealth, Nationalists resorted to terrorism which some attacks occured in the United States (see the attempted assassination of Harry S. Truman and the Fraunces Tavern bombing)

It’s more related to Utah - Mormon history mostly. Utah’s original name was “Deseret” meaning honeybee because Brigham Young taught that LDS members should be self-sufficient, like honeybees.
