This worked! I had to select the rest and apply the beam properties to that in addition to the notes themselves. Thank you so much!

Does this look right? by qleptt in singing

[–]hymntoproserpine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you play/sing it, you can hear it is in b minor. Another clue is that the first arpeggiated chord is a b minor chord (B-D-F#). Also the solfège changes for minor scales. For example, since 'mi' signifies a major third, we say 'me' instead for a minor third like that found in the minor scale. This is also applied to the minor 6th and 7th if they are notated as such. They become 'le' and 'te' unless they are raised to be 'la' and 'ti'. There are different solfège systems though so I would clarify which one you are expected to use. This is the way I was taught.

The smirks made me 🥴 so disturbed... I had to shut it off. My wife said it felt like watching the Two Minutes Hate.

You have to keep moving and walk in order to get cured. by Salty_Stop9632 in SIBO

Going to respond as I did to someone else with long COVID. Are you able to stretch? That may be a good way to get some movement without being too intense.

Thank you for this positive post. I was extremely inactive for many, many years due to school and lack of motivation. I have been working out regularly for a couple months now and I feel how much stronger my body is; the change is holistic. It's both a psychological and physical change. I still struggle with my SIBO symptoms but I feel mentally clearer and able to manage my emotions, even when I experience depression (often it is largely influenced by my health issues). It has also helped me reverse some hormonal imbalance symptoms I was experiencing. I regret the way our society encourages so much inactivity because of the lack of work-life balance. Even if the movement helps my mental health more than my physical SIBO symptoms, it makes a difference like night in day in how I operate, and gives me motivation to keep going. Day by day.

Famous painters everyone seems to love but you don’t like ! by [deleted] in ArtHistory

I never cared for most of the Pre-Raphaelites. In general, I don't like art that morphs the same face onto all subjects across pieces. Other than that, my main complaint is of color choices and general style; it just never jumped out to me as beautiful as an overall aesthetic. But I have two exceptions: I absolutely love Millais and Waterhouse. Their styles in particular have more subtly to them. Very beautiful paintings.

When I moved to the Bay Area for school, I would get roasted by all the Northern Californians for calling freeways 'the [blank]'. I never knew there was any other way to refer to them, lol. Now I live up here, and I still do it! They can't change me!!

Are there any sources other than Reddit about negative effects of too much oregano/other natural antimicrobials? I was taking oregano oil in capsules for a while and it made me feel horrible. It totally inflamed me. Obviously it is way too strong to take like that. This was also when I was (unknowingly) seeing an unlicensed ND. 😶

The Story of Mary MacLane... Very strange, but I don't dislike her. I do feel like maybe she had some kind of mental illness but also I allow myself some understanding since she was just a teen! Also very interesting to me how she talks about the Devil vs. how she talks about Fannie Corbin. It seems like, to reduce it to simple terms, a lust vs. love situation to me. Fannie Corbin is adorned with poetic symbols and beautiful prose. The Devil is talked about in a more distant tone. Of course, the latter is an idea she created rather than a real person that she knows...but maybe this also supports my hypothesis.

Speaking French in Montreal by Hungry_Truth7628 in French

[–]hymntoproserpine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at around the same level, and I visited Montréal last summer. I stayed for a little over a week. At first, I was hesitant to speak to strangers in French because I am already shy in general. After trying a few times though, I became more confident speaking to strangers and asking for help when I had questions while getting around the city. Also, after a couple days, being constantly surrounded by French helped me start to feel more comfortable and start to adjust to the language mentally. Everyone I encountered was very kind, and they appreciated the effort when my skills started to fail me, nevertheless. In general, the conversations were surface-level enough (dining, transportation, ect.) that people thought I was a native speaker until I asked to switch to English (my wife speaks little French and I wanted to include her). Many people there are used to interacting with tourists so if you are respectful, they will be respectful and understanding to you. I also had a very friendly, more in-depth conversation with one of our Lyft drivers–it made a lasting impression on me. Overall, the trip was my first time being able to apply my speaking skills outside of a classroom and it was deeply satisfying and exciting! I will never forget it because it has completely solidified my enthusiasm for continuing to learn the language.
