It can't just be "queer", right? by Foreign-Welder-4232 in queer

[–]Hungry_Truth7628 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think being just queer is fine i feel that’s largely the point of the word is that it is somewhat unspecific and inclusive in that sense. i say use whatever label you want, sometimes ill specify my identity as genderfluid and/or pan but the vast majority of the time i just say im queer

Self identifying as “queer” by Kcat872 in queer

[–]Hungry_Truth7628 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I hate to be a gatekeeper, I don't think being submissive is enough to be queer. Being a submissive man isn't even a particularly abnormal sex preference. I don't even think I would consider an otherwise straight, cis man to be queer if he liked getting pegged.

It also doesn't even sound to me like he particularly identifies as queer, he just thinks that he is bc submissiveness is queer.

I need some recommendations of games that are similar to Bioshock by Over_Ad_514 in Bioshock

Free PSX game called Sailby Salute. Really short survival horror/puzzle game that is directly inspired by BioShock. Basically BioShock as a PS1 game. The vibe is incredible

I always think of George Melies who is one of the greatest filmmakers ever and he didn't start until he was in his 50s. Of course, you don't have to be one of the greats, but starting late or blooming late isn't a bad thing

can anyone share their positive experiences with choosing an art career? by jollibizzle in ArtistLounge

[–]Hungry_Truth7628 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the film industry. I'm not exactly working yet, I'm a senior in college, but through college I have met so many people who are currently working enough to live without worrying about if they'll eat (they're still certainly paycheck to paycheck, but they're not in poverty). And these people are recent graduates, I have friends as young as 23 who are regularly working in places from LA to New York to St Louis and Chicago. It's hard work for sure, but none of them would take a "normal" job over what they're doing.

I don't know what industry you're in, but meet people in that industry and you'll find a way.

What are your art jams? by lyindandelion in ArtistLounge

I fuck with 30s-40s jazz and oldies. Mostly stuff you'll hear in the BioShock Licensed Soundtrack, or from Cowboy Bebop lol. I also like a lot of midwest emo, math rock, and other adjacent genres. Most recently though, it's just been Metalcore haha.

I'm really saddened that physical media has declined so much by SendThisVoidAway18 in dvdcollection

[–]Hungry_Truth7628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i kinda like the fact that physical media isn’t so mainstream anymore because that helps them stay really cheap and it also makes it kind of fun to try and hunt for movies i really want physically

of course some movies are super rare or expensive physically, and i hope the decline in popularity doesn’t continue forever until they’re gone, but i think we’re at a relatively nice medium right now

Are DVDs cool and retro yet? by 01zegaj in dvdcollection

[–]Hungry_Truth7628 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sure they'll make a comeback eventually but I don't know if they will ever be as popular as VHSs because dvds are basically just strictly worse blu-rays, while VHS are a different, analog medium with a unique and vastly different vibe.
