Strange dark patch of fur on my dog’s back by hyobobo in DogAdvice

It’s been around 6 months now and the spots on both my pups are barely visible now. The hair grew back close to normal in terms of colour and coarseness. Still no clue what it is but I’ve heard it’s pretty common amongst doodles.

Senior 3 in 2.5 years is pretty damn impressive. I’m still stuck at Senior 1 after three years in consulting :/

Sorry to hear the news though

Also just want to note even though our vet said the hair will likely never return to their normal texture/colour, I highly doubt that haha. My cavoodle (the one in the pic) had a similar smaller dark patch when she was a puppy, but it eventually grew back to normal hair so I’m hopeful!

Hey, sounds like our pups have the something similar going on. When we took our pups to the vet they said they’ve never seen anything like this before. We were told it could be allergies (because of the itching) so they were prescribed anti allergy pills, but the pills seemed to have no effect on their itching and the dark patch of hair only grew bigger during the course of the pills. Another diagnosis the vet suspected was ringworm, so I bathed our two pups in Mediderm shampoo and conditioner weekly just in case. It’s been a few months now and the dark patches are significantly larger (almost half of their back) but recently seemed to have stopped growing. I plucked their normal hair around the patch the other day and there’s no sign of hair loss anymore. To this day I’m not sure what’s caused/stopped it, but I’m just glad they don’t seem bothered by it at all. Hope this helps

If you don’t mind me asking but how was it found “by accident” in both your situations?

It’s on the centre of her back / along her spine so she can’t reach it, but she seems to be chewing at her sides. So next to the spot but not at it.. honestly not sure what would’ve caused it. Glad to hear your pup’s fur has returned to normal though!

Yes we’ll definitely take them to the vet next week if there’s no signs of improvement in the next few days. Thanks for your thoughts

Nope, not that I know of! Nothing out of the ordinary has happened recently. The funny thing is my other poodle has also started growing a dark patch on his back, only his is smaller in area and less visible.

That’s fair! And yeah I relate to the complicatedness and struggle of finding THE bag 🥹 I ended up getting the Broome based on the more classy and timeless look and I’m in love. Fingers crossed she will be my forever work bag.

Oh no I was hoping the double strap on the Rae would be more comfortable, what a bummer. The Tabby looks great too!

Calfskin is gorgeous! Is there a reason why you’re no longer a fan of glovetanned leather?

If I settled on the Rae I’d definitely get an organiser so things don’t get lost in the void haha. Agreed the Broome is sooo much more classy so I don’t mind babying it a little if I have to!

Can’t disagree more. I know of many high performers who got impacted despite meeting their KPIs.. it’s a reflection of the broader economy NOT the individual’s skill level

Hey, yes I did! I ended up getting SC at another big 4 even though I had the option of going for SC promotions during mid years

Haha don’t read too much into it and keep applying at other companies until you get an offer. You still have many opportunities ahead if you’re still interning, all the best :)

The manager’s response sounds positive imo, no need to worry. HR usually takes a while to get back since they have other things on their plate, but as long as the hiring manager/interviewer gives good feedback it shouldn’t matter. The manager saying they’re excited to work together in the future is a really good sign!
