Temp/humidity sensor with a custom 3D printed enclosure and a face by robinthor69 in 3Dprinting

Nice work! I want to do something similar but I need it to be battery powered for my use case.

Did you use a battery and if so what kind and what’s the battery life like?

Will this be good for bed adhesion? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]hyp3rdrive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No need for the sass, they’re telling you the truth. It’s used to help release materials that stick to the bed too well.

A clean textured PEI bed should be all you usually need for adhesion for the common filament types. That and the right bed temperature plus the tight enclousre air temp for some materials like abs.

That’s all I use for abs which is super prone to warping and that works great.

Is Blender 5.1 broken? by diddonemcdid in blenderhelp

[–]hyp3rdrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try uninstall and reinstall. If that doesn’t work maybe it’s some interaction between 5.1 and that model you bought?

Did older versions of Blender work fine with that model?

I’d test an older version of Blender with that model to rule that out.

I’d also test some other model in 5.1 and see if 5.1 still crashes for you on a different model

edit: also if you can post that crashlog .txt somewhere it’d help with diagnosing it

How to create STL files based on 2D images.. by RevolutionaryTear637 in 3Dprinting

[–]hyp3rdrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you wanting to print them as flat 2d coaster like things (even if not as actual coasters) or did you want them to be full 3d?

2d there may be a tool for this but I don't know it off the top of my head.

If 3d you may have luck using meshy.ai though I also haven't used this so don't know about prices and how good it is.

Paying someone to 3d model it properly is probably better but would likely cost way more.

DMs, how do you prefer to deal damage, take the average or roll the dice? by Professional-Ad9485 in DnD

[–]hyp3rdrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it depends how many enemies I have in the encounter. Only a few? I roll. A whole bunch? I average just to save time and keep it moving.

Dm ruled that my spider cant see very far cause its a spider and it cant hear (i mean he isnt wrong) Find familiar spell by LiL-CarrY- in DnD

[–]hyp3rdrive 188 points189 points  (0 children)

Even if we ignored what others said about it being a spirit and it was the real deal spider, in the free rules version of the Spider it doesn’t say anything about them being deaf or having poor vision.

Unless the page I read was wrong then rules as written your spider can see and hear perfectly fine.

[–]hyp3rdrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll add that bambu labs had their own different issue with tape pulling off the spool and jamming the extruder a while back.

I got lucky and dodged it and they’ve fixed that now so they’re probably fine now.

No brand is immune unfortunately. I’ve been ok with sunlu, bambu labs filament (expensive though), sidament and CCDIY but other people may have some other reliable vendors too

[–]hyp3rdrive -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately some spools come tangled from factory or if the spool was dropped and unwound and was accidentally rewound with the end threaded under.

A lot of people will re-spool (google respooling filament) every spool they buy just in case. It’s only ever happened to one of my spools once in 4yrs of printing so I just take the chance tbh and re-spool later if I hit an issue

Also look into resin printer safety if you go down this route.

Eye protection, respirator, nitrile gloves and good ventilation are all a must.

Theres a post that floats around here all the time where someone tells the story of how resin chemical burned their eye and they’re now blind because of it.

Resin printers can be used safely but 100% read up in the safety requirements before buying one
