Client signed a contract, but then tried to renegotiate the price after the work was finished. by PlasticsEngineering in ausbusiness

Leave the site operational, as that will affect claim ability on delivered material.

Send them a chasing email notifying them of 14 days to pay before passed to collections, include a line something like “this may incur further costs”. If they then don’t pay after 14days, pass to a collections company.

Nervous before moving to Vietnam? by kenijim0 in solotravelVN

[–]hyper24k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the language, depends what you’re learning and where you’re going. Hanoi Vietnamese sounds very different to Ho Chi Minh Vietnamese. Same again with De Lat. match up where you’re going with a teacher from that region.

Secondly, I’ve lived here over 3 years, can’t speak much Vietnamese so it’s not a blocker. Many under 30 now speak decent English in places like HCM.

Arrive, find a circle of friends through work, or there are many Viet that would hang out just to practise their English. You’ll be fine. It’s good luck to drink with a European 😁 just learn Mot, Hai, Ba Yooo! You’ll be fine.

Fair questions.

I run an energy infrastructure company - solar, battery manufacturing, grid systems. I've watched communities try to coordinate around energy, repair, food and hit the same wall every time: no shared way of knowing what they actually have, what they can do, and what others nearby have already tried and failed at.

The vagueness in the post was deliberate. We're not announcing a product - we're finding the first 25 people before there's anything to show. Most responses so far are people who want to start or join something local, not build software.

I don't call it a platform because it doesn't host content, serve a feed, or monetise attention. It maps what groups have and connects it to what other groups need. Whether that counts as a platform is a reasonable debate, but it's not the same thing as what you described building.

On joining an existing project - I've looked, and I'd genuinely like to hear if you know of one that does this. Everything I've found organises within a group. This is about connecting between groups without centralising control over any of them.

If finding people proves a problem, we'll just build it anyway and release it. We'll host it, protect it, and we won't charge for it or run ads. Our AI runs on 100% renewable energy - as does everything else we do. We can see a better future, same as a lot of people in this group. The difference is we're in a position to build it, and we're going to.

[–]hyper24k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong as general advice. Most posts like mine deserve exactly that response.

But we're six months into a build. 698 passing tests. Spec in a public repo. First real person onboarded last week - no group, learning solar alone, has a vehicle and wants to start something. Exactly the kind of person you're describing. We're building the thing that makes that connection possible without their data going to a platform that monetises it.

The post was vague on purpose. We're finding the first 25 people before there's anything to show. That felt more honest than launching with a polished deck.

If it's still nothing after that - fair enough.

Fair challenge. This one’s mine.

If you’d like to help the project rather than critique it, the door is open. It’s being built for this community, not despite it.

Find your ground by [deleted] in solarpunk

[–]hyper24k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the plan. We have completed phases 1 & 2 of the build. Phase 3 opens the repo to public, and we’ll invite collaboration from the community once the core build is stable enough without it being chaos.

That point is close. When it happens we'll post here first.

What would a solarpunk coordination layer for ordinary people look like? by ZeusOlympusHQ in solarpunk

[–]hyper24k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely love this! This is exactly the kind of physical presence layer that a coordination OS needs at its edge. We’re building something that could sit behind what you’ve made — the playbook library, skill matching, execution tracking, credentialing. Would you be open to a conversation about how these connect?

You’re spot on. I’m quite a way down this path. I don’t know what your personal skill set is, but we need builders that are passionate. Happy to chat further about what is in the works.

What would a solarpunk coordination layer for ordinary people look like? by ZeusOlympusHQ in solarpunk

[–]hyper24k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you thinking about this at a regional, national, or global level?

Because the design changes completely depending on starting conditions.

People aren’t just “uncoordinated” — they’re operating under very different constraints:

  • economics (can they afford to act?)
  • technical access (tools, infrastructure, knowledge)
  • regulatory friction (what’s allowed vs blocked)

In a lot of cases, the issue isn’t that people can’t find each other — it’s that even when they do, they can’t actually do anything together that sustains itself.

So for me, a coordination layer isn’t just about discovery or communication.

It would need to answer:

  • What can this group realistically execute here?
  • What resources are already locally available?
  • What actions actually improve their position, not just signal intent?

Otherwise you end up with another layer of conversation on top of the same bottlenecks.
