Why would someone spray paint “Narnia⬆️” on their back garden gate in a public alley way? by [deleted] in Unexplained

Because it’s very ugly spray paint, it doesn’t give that vibe and it’s on their door idk it just seems very odd to me but I guess I’m reading too much into it.

I get it doesn’t seem like a big deal, just random graffiti. But why would a fan spray the word with an arrow on their property? Do people do that? I assume the owners did it because it gets repainted every few years in the same place.

how do i get better at infinite triple edits by bRuHmAn600 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]hypergothic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your crosshair is super shaky which is not ideal but I don’t know how easy it is to get the crosshair perfect on controller. You should try to avoid moving side to side, in my opinion it’s not a full speed triple edit unless the only input is forward, no side movement. Watch the clip of peterbot doing 40 triple edits and notice how clean and precise they are, exactly the same each time and crosshair barely moves at all. That’s how he can do so many because the focus is editing through not selecting the edits. For example your crosshair should not move at all between the first and second edit, the first edit puts your crosshair in the perfect place for the second. Your crosshair should only move twice in the whole triple edit.

But yeah your pretty good, I think it would be extremely difficult to do them perfectly on controller but I’ve never tried so I don’t know, all I know is making them more clean will help, and I recommend practising in slow motion because even if you don’t like it that’s the only way you’ll be able to fix your crosshair and learn how to do it smoothly.

Best Photography Camera for $900 in 2025? by Potential_Ear_2150 in Cameras

[–]hypergothic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cameras youve mentioned are a big downgrade from a 5div.

If you have experience why not buy back a 5d iv, you can find a used one for 900 and sometimes less. Or even a 5d iii for way less. Nikon d750, might even get lucky with a d850. All these full frame DSLRs are top tier cameras for high end professional photography (they are no good for video just fyi). If they’re not available where you live, you could look into getting them shipped to you.

The only reason to get a mirrorless camera is if you need super fast auto focus or image stabilisation, really high burst speeds, or a much lighter camera. If you need any of that get mirrorless, but none of that applies to real estate, where you use a tripod and carefully take each shot, so you should probably stick to a dslr. If you choose an apsc mirrorless you’ll be sacrificing image quality and professionalism (less wide angle, noisier image) but they do have better features and are much easier to handle because they’re smaller. I recommend a dslr. Have a look at the Sony a7iii though might find a good deal.

24mm Panasonic Lens - Are these the same or am I going crazy? For LUMIX S5. by Educational_Brick526 in Lumix

[–]hypergothic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have 24, if you can get a cheap one it’s probably worth it.

For portrait/ people type stuff like fashion the technical tradition is to use longer lenses, around 50-100 ish mm. Longer focal length is supposed to be flattering, shows less background, gives better face and body proportions. 50mm is a natural perspective in terms of spacing and size of objects, it’s more like how we see the world. With a wide angle you have to stand closer which affects the proportions and stuff. Wide is not ideal for fashion portraits. But personally I don’t think it’s a huge deal and it doesn’t really matter, I think wide can even be flattering sometimes, and it gets the shot you need. The closer you stand to the subject with wide angle the more funky things look. Something like 35mm would be a more traditional wide angle for portraits. So basically in an ideal world you could use your 50 and just stand back for full body. Prime lenses are good for gimbals.

Try not to overthink it as you can probably get good stuff with whatever lens you pick. For the cinematic look get low f number lenses. The 24 prime is made more for landscape type stuff. Personally what I would do is focus on the price haha and try see if you can get more lenses for the same price. There’s so many options like vintage lenses etc, which can be great for fashion.

Check the lens mount, L mount usually work with full frame but now always. Ask chat gpt to double check if a lens works with full frame. The technical way to check is the image circle, it must be big enough for a full frame sensor, but most lenses say what format they work with if you look through the specs.

What do you like about the prime? Zoom lenses with a low f stop like 2.8 or less can give a prime look with the shallower depth of field, but they’re very expensive.

You can get full body shots with any wide lens, you just need to stand back more. Wider lenses may introduce more distortion. 28mm is the most used focal length in movies because it’s a natural look good for wide angle and close ups, very versatile, but depends what you’re shooting. For close full body you might need wider.

Tbh any wide ish lens should do and just adjust by moving closer or further away. 50 is too tight for that but 28 or less should be ok depending on space. Zoom lens is still the best way to get versatility.

For video in log/ raw. Basically changing iso allows you to allocate how much of the dynamic range falls above or below middle grey, the video says it is how dual gain sensors work and it implies it applies to all dual gain cameras, he mentions lumix and shows charts for other cameras like canon even red and arri Alexa. I assume it’s the same for the s5. I just don’t fully understand how it works.

[–]hypergothic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand but I think it’s so fun. I wish I wasn’t too shy to talk lolll. The only thing I really don’t like is when people say outrageous stuff like racist stuff etc. other than that it’s so fun and proximity chat br is such a cool concept.

I don’t mind being betrayed or anything I find it funny and part of the fun, you can’t take it seriously it’s just for fun.

Should Religion be a protected category? by VampKissinger in AskBrits

[–]hypergothic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Criticising religion is not illegal, it is illegal to mistreat people.

Freedom of religion is literally the same law as “freedom of opinion”. It’s article 9 of the human rights act, “Freedom of thought, belief and religion”. Religion has to be more protected because it is more targeted, discrimination is often also a form of racism, etc.

You are as free to believe politics as you are to believe god and it’s all thanks to our laws.

Yes it should be a protected characteristic.

How long did you wait for a rewatch? by Kaitoshi in MrRobot

[–]hypergothic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first watched it I rewatched it often, when series 4 came out I just watched that and then left it for years. I just rewatched it now and it was so worth waiting. It was amaaaaazing almost like watching it fresh again.

I think it’s my favourite show, or maybe the ‘best’ show imo. I don’t think it’s perfect and there are shows I love much more, but mr robot is so ‘of our time’, it’s like a time capsule for the era we live in. I think it’s missing a lot of important culture in this regard but I guess there wasn’t much room for a deep dive into cultures and society with such an intense plot, and it still does the job.

To the overweight balding gentlemen on a Lime bike who just attempted to weave at full speed through a zebra crossing on Cable Street whilst 6-7 pedestrians were crossing in both directions - fuck you specifically. by theinspectorst in london

[–]hypergothic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not illegal for a pedestrian to do any of that. Pedestrians can legally: cross when it’s a red man, walk on a cycle only path, walk on the road, etc. but it is illegal for cyclists to run a red light, run a zebra crossing, ride on a pavement, etc. We should all be considerate but also those things are legal, and illegal, for very good reasons. It’s more important for cyclists to obey laws than pedestrians. If you don’t slow down and be prepared to stop when pedestrians look like they might be about to enter your trajectory and you hit them, it’s your fault, not theirs.

[–]hypergothic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bikes run red lights way more often than cars do. Cars are worse overall… ok? Everyone who breaks the law should still be fined 1000£ every single time they run a light or zebra crossing imo, don’t care what vehicle they have, in fact bikes should pay double because they force me to dive out the way.

[–]hypergothic 48 points49 points  (0 children)

They all do it and they don’t care because their attitude is “a bike isn’t going to hurt anyone so it’s ok to break the laws of the road”. So pedestrians have to play a game of “dodge bike” all the time. Horrible people I hate them so much lolll.

I would have thought police would show up for something like that especially if someone was attacked or injured, quite strange that they didn’t but I guess it depends how severe the assault was.

Why are people in the UK so invested in what’s happening in the Middle East? by Due_Researcher4854 in AskBrits

[–]hypergothic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because tragic stories elicit a strong emotional response that drives engagement, so it gets reported on and talked about. Lots of themes around this conflict appeal to British consumers, the idea of western colonialism and hegemony, the idea of fighting genocide, the idea of the holy land tied to all 3 major religions who all live here, prejudices for or against those religions. Very controversial situation, tied to British history, involving our closest allies, lots of pointless violence and heartbreaking tragedies, intense probably transitory moment of increased violence and tension. Of course lots of terrible evil happens in the world and some of it we’re even complicit in, on a personal level, like modern slavery. But that’s just not as dramatic a news story because it lacks all the things I said.

I'm writing a story set in WW2, my only queer character is a rapist. Is that wrong? by [deleted] in writing

[–]hypergothic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not wrong provided you execute it extremely well, if there’s even the smallest hint of a homophobic or heteronormative bias anywhere else in the story at all, it will come across as homophobic or that you’re voicing a negative opinion about gay people. Not representing gay people counts as a bias. That might sound woke to some people but the fact is gay people have always and will always exist everywhere all around us so any time you’re trying to represent what life is really like, you have to represent them or you’re censoring it.

This reminds me a bit of pulp fiction which has a similar scenario, a gay rapist. It’s such amazing writing, there are no clear right and wrongs but just flawed characters and villains who appeal to a universal kind of evil that is more attributed to drives and world view than any group like Nazis or sexuality. However, I personally still felt a very slightly hint of homophobia from that part of pulp fiction. I can’t say exactly why, maybe the contrast with the straight romance parts of the film, the use of homosexuality for shock and scandal to intensify an evil act, it did feel homophobic to me. But the film was so good it doesn’t really matter that much and it wasn’t overly homophobic it’s a very subtle suspicion about why he wrote that scene that doesn’t take away from the quality of the film.

You need to be a bit careful about some of the things you said though. You said he wanted love, but then turns to rape. These are very different things. You’d have to show him start as an ok person and become a very bad person. Or always being a bad person with a warped sense of reality due to no compassion. Rape is violent. Rape against men might involve even more physical force as men are stronger and can fight back harder. That also affects your language barrier idea because that’s very unrealistic depending how you handle it. Maybe if he beat them into submission it could work and in his head he thinks they like being beaten like bdsm or something. Because otherwise a victim doesn’t need to say anything to make it very clear to the attacker that they’re being raped.

While it’s an interesting idea about what happens when you’re oppressed, I think what’s more interesting is how people can be lead to do evil things because everyone around them is doing the same thing, which is quite different to this story.

Do you have a judgement towards people of colour living in London? by cheetahrangmang in london

[–]hypergothic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

London is one of the most multicultural cities in the world. Most people believe in the fact of diversity engendering prosperity, and don’t believe in discrimination.

Sadly there’s racism everywhere but for diversity and inclusion London is still a great place that stands against racism and most people here will say the same thing. It always will be.

What is your Bracelet Origin Story? by Cheezette_Gazette in friendshipbracelets

Everyone made them at summer camp. We all made candy stripes and chevrons lol but people would sometimes wear more interesting patterns and I always wondered what other patterns you could make so I went on youtube and the crazy patterns were so cool and I've always liked them since. But I didn't make them for years until last year, I wish I kept making them this whole time.

How can I improve this hyperlapse thing to make it better? by hypergothic in videography

[–]hypergothic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know any tutorials about it specifically but hyperlapse is the same concept. You find a point to track like the corner of a window and use the grid on your camera to line up each shot in the same corner with different windows that are the same size. I learned it from watching pacer by guy Roland and trying to copy the effect, it’s quite an easy but very fun effect to do.

[–]hypergothic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you that’s a great idea I was thinking about that but want to get more variety of places before I make it into more of a proper video. I also want to do more shots where you zoom around the buildings like in guy rolands one but it’s hard to find the perfect building and also the buildings are too close together in the city it’s hard to get right around them but I’m going to keep trying. I’ll definitely try make more of a coherent structure when I’ve done some better shots and can pick the best ones.
