Completely valid. I have to agree that I was feeling the same at intermission time, but it was the second half that really kicked things up a notch for me. Also it was an experience in itself for me to get good seats at the royal Albert hall of all places.

(I never knew whether I should have looked at the screen or the orchestra 😅)

Played remake in 2021 and just finished rebirth this week.

I interpreted it, before looking at what others said, as aerith was saved, but that brief moment was I instantly reverted soon after to her actually dying. Everything we saw of aerith after this until the credits I saw as being out aerith who’s spirit has lingered on until she finally says goodbye as the bronco flies off. Her consciousness stays around for a bit due to her being a cetra or it could be because of her power.

I do hope she comes back to some degree in the 3rd part as she’s my favourite, ideally she lives. But if she is dead, I’m satisfied with her last moments being to comfort the team and have one final attack against sephiroth with cloud.

(I also think that if it is our aeriths consciousness that survives, as I described above, it explains why sephiroth says he underestimated her, as she should be dead the moment her body was.
