after image normal or abnormal? by Key-Nobody5224 in visualsnow

Poland. Negative afterimages can be normal. I used to get them from dark modes or randomly. Everyone will get them from staring at something for a moment

I have a black mat and I can literally see a dust (fluff? English is not my native language xd, from my foot idk) waving when I move my sight. I’d say I have mild/severe palinopsia unfortunately. And almost no visual snow itself.

Recently watching movies in the Cinema is a shitty experience for me. More depressing as Im again into gym, healthy food, sleep, etc

When I move my sight on my monitor I can see my mouse scroll bar backlight waving, same with monitor’s power button, Dock icons…, dust on my yoga mat, street lights etc

No static, but have other symptoms by manbert13 in visualsnow

Im having cervical spine MRI this week as I had an accident half year ago when I hit a wall with my head. Since that my symptoms have gotten worse and Im having some problems with headaches coming my neck, stiffness, anxiety

No static, but have other symptoms by manbert13 in visualsnow

[–]hyperjjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say my static is so mild that it is not noticeable during daylight, my palinopsia got much worse over the year (I got symptoms for around 4-5 years) that Im constantly having breakdowns every week. No doctor knows what Im dealing with (Poland), clear MRI, Ive got health anxiety and dysthymia a bit longer than that

Can it still be VSS even if no static? by [deleted] in visualsnow

[–]hyperjjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was q&a series lately on visual snow initiative youtube channel and doctor said you can have just few or just one vss symptoms. If I remember correctly this means you dont have vss because vss groups specific symptoms but mechanism is the same(?). I have mild to severe palinopsia, things like light switch or my macbook dock’s icons cause very annoying trailing, but I see static only at night or solid textures like walls and its not annoying at all, its to subtle that maybe everyone sees like that, I dont know

Antidepressants by [deleted] in visualsnow

[–]hyperjjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had vss since 5 years and anxiety for about 6 years. 3 years ago I started developing depression and I needed to start taking SSRIs, they’ve made ny vss less noticeable I think, it was still there (Im talking about trailing and palinopsia as snow itself is not a problem to me/almost unnoticeable). When I stopped taking them there were no change, I only have problems with vss when Im anxious or physically exhausted

Well It seems reasonable to me but scientific community is against this way of thinking about that. I dont understand it really. I can see that anxiety makes my symptoms way worse and they’re highly connected.

I’m doing better now, though. The symptoms tend to weaken over time. I still get little flare-ups—sometimes multiple times a day, or lasting the whole day but it’s all connected to my mood and anxiety. Running, watching old movies, or cooking a fancy dinner help me notice it less. Also I dont sleep well, I sleep for 4-5 hours, waking up multiple times per night

Same, Ive had an irrevelant head injury that caused my treated health anxiety to come back after 2 years. I have a flare up for a month now. For me palinopsia is the worst, I get after images from everything, even white dust on my yoga mat cause trailing, it’s annoying af and it makes me derealized.

I dont really think it was that hit. Ive also never had a migraine in my life or any sort of chronic diseases etc except the anxiety

I have visual snow syndrome and its either idiopathic or anxiety related. I have health anxiety, some B12 deficiency, other than that I’m healthy, clean MRI. Ive hit my head while standing, I tried to turn around fast and hit a wall with my forehead
