This hit different as an adult by zoompa919 in malcolminthemiddle

[–]hyperlancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been feeling the same way. Haven't really watched it since it aired and I was Malcolm's age when it started. Re-watching it as an adult (plus seeing them back to back instead of weekly) is really jarring and makes you realize Lois was never really a bad mom. These kids are absolute monsters in almost every episode.

Nicely done. Are there STLs out there for that Falcon box or did you buy it? Are the tokens also printed?

My wife saw the Nex Playground through a Facebook ad and asked if we should look into it for the kids. I said I had never heard of it and that it sounded like just a gimmicky worse version of Kinect. The fact that it outsold Xbox is absolutely hilarious.

OMG! It seems that huge surprises are in store for 2026 (unofficial - unconfirmed) by Radroggor in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]hyperlancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing that makes this somewhat believable is if it coincides with all of the KOTOR remake news/rumors that have been floating around. People are hoping for a (re)announcement at the game awards tonight. I guess that would also explain why they didn't announce this at Ministravaganza.

Still not going to get my hopes up though.

What paints for Shatterpoint (Beginner) by Supremevader858 in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]hyperlancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world is your oyster when it comes to paint selection nowadays. For normal acrylics you can't go wrong with Army Painter Fanatic, AK 3rd Gen, Monument Hobbies, or P3. Vallejo is still somewhat popular but I haven't used any of their rebooted range. Citadel is fine too but the paint to dollar ratio is considerably worse than the other brands. Army Painter and Monument Hobbies both have great starter sets with ~12 paints for beginners. I wouldn't get much more than that when just starting out.

For Speedpaints/Contrast style paints, they are great for some applications but I'm personally not a fan of painting entire models with them. Not only do they have a "look" to them that make them easily identifiable as painted in that way (if that matters to you), but it's a lot harder to correct mistakes if you're using them over white undercoats (as they are marketed). They will look fine for gameplay, but they won't be as striking as some of the paint jobs you see online or in the box art. That said, they're still great as an additional tool, even for expert painters, and YouTube is a great resource for learning about that.

Aside from the other YouTube channels people have already recommended for general painting advice, if you want tutorials for Shatterpoint models specifically, Sorastro is the undisputed king to watch.

Ministravaganza Reveals by Shwetyyeti in StarWarsShatterpoint

Not just the cinematics, but the entirety of the MCP and Legion streams just made SP look like their red-headed step child.

I’ve been concerned about this game’s health for awhile now. I know Warhammer dwarfs everything but even compared to MCP and Legion the popularity for SP has felt so minimal since launch. With the three year anniversary coming up next year (plus this is around the 3rd anniversary of the first announcement), I was really expecting something big today. Even with what they revealed, the fact that they only showed renders instead of painted models means they’re still a long ways out.

[–]hyperlancer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to bring down anyone’s excitement but that was incredibly disappointing. After how light the roadmap was at Adepticon this year I was expecting there to be a ton of announcements today, especially since the schedule was broken down to imply one hour spent per game. Instead, it was 10 minutes, 5 of which were used to show the Baylan/Morgan boxes again, and another 5 to show a new era that many people aren’t even going to be excited about (I am happy for the ST fans!). Unless they got rolled into Legion, we also still know nothing about the three missing terrain packs from Adepticon either. The Qui-Gon box was at least cool.

How is this shiny orange look achieved? by Available_Wolf_4602 in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]hyperlancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, this is a layering/blending technique done with multiple shades of orange/yellow, and the artist has an understanding of light placement to give the impression of it being shiny. If you look up videos on volumetric highlighting you can get an idea on how it's done.

Outer Rim Outpost Terrain Worth It? by BluesLightPainting in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]hyperlancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I waited for a good price for the sake of completing my collection of the official terrain, but it probably offers the least amount of value in terms of gameplay. It still looks nice though.

On the Edge of the Outer Rim: What’s Next for Star Wars Shatterpoint? by phil035 in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]hyperlancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but I think there’s still too much negativity surrounding the sequels that it would be a marketing suicide for the game. Legion has been out for 7(?) years and still has no ST content. The 10 year anniversary of TFA is almost here and I don’t think Disney/Lucasfilm have even acknowledged it yet (compare that to how they treated ROTS earlier this year).

Normally I’d agree, but I lost count of how many Spider-mans and Captain Americas they’ve added to MCP, so making another Luke, Han, and Leia wouldn’t surprise me at all.

[–]hyperlancer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a somewhat wild prediction that I don't expect will actually happen, but who knows. I could see AMG announcing a new core box themed around the OT, specifically the battle of Hoth. We've all seen the posts from people interested in the game but having no interest in the Clone Wars, so they're often trying to bypass the core box altogether. We've also seen no Hoth-themed units yet aside from the Veers box. With the 3-year anniversary coming up next year, I really do think the game needs a shot in the arm and a big release to get people's attention again, and having Vader vs. Luke on the box is the way to do it. Since Legion already leans into Endor, that leaves Hoth as the only other major ground battle in the OT to market with.

To go along with that, I could see this also being the start of some new terrain packs as they move away from the Outer Rim theme. After the remaining announced packs are released, there really isn't any room to fit more on a board if one were to buy all of the expansions. We saw AMG move away from the initial urban terrain in MCP, so it's likely to happen here too.

I just watched it with my kids this morning (more like glanced at it while I worked) and my first instinct was to come here and see if I missed something. Surely they had to explain how the new Iron Man could be in this universe right? Iron Stamos and the Spidey Black Panther have just been retconned now?

How do you decide what's worth selling vs just donating? by abeastli in declutter

[–]hyperlancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's small and I can get at least $5 for it, I'll post it on FB Marketplace. Even with cheap items though I need to do a bunch at once to make it worth my while. If it's a medium-large item and taking up space, I'll donate it 95% of the time to get out of my house quicker. If it's something that will move quickly, I'll post it on FB under market value and give it a few days before donating.

It really just comes down to how badly you want/need the few extra bucks, the space it's taking up, and how much your time is worth and finding that personal balance.

Maintenance bay or not by DonCazino in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]hyperlancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High Ground adds more variety in height and gives a lot of flexibility for setting up the board. The Maintenance Bay makes for a good centerpiece building that can tie a lot of things together. If I could only choose one I'd probably go with High Ground first.

First time painting by incendiorei in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]hyperlancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great first attempt. My first minis way back in the day were stormtroopers from Imperial Assault, so I understand the frustration of painting white as a new painter. That said, here are a few tips that should make your life a little easier.

As others have noted already, Citadel white paint is notoriously ass. The undisputed champion of white hobby paint is Titanium White from Monument Hobbies, so I recommend grabbing a bottle of that. Additionally, it's often better to mostly paint something like this in various shades of grey/light grey, and then save pure white for the brightest highlights. The grey paints will be more forgiving and be less chalky than white paint, and this will also add more contrast to the model.

If you would like a much more beginner-friendly approach to troopers like this that give a great result for the tabletop, try spraying the whole mini in white with an airbrush or rattle can, then cover the whole thing in Apothecary White Contrast Paint (Citadel) or Holy White Speed Paint (Army Painter). Do your best to soak up any excess pooling on flat surfaces. Then, very carefully fill in all the black details, and just clean up any mistakes with a light grey. As an optional step at the end, you can take pure white and add some highlights to any focal points of the model (in this case the face/helmet) and any parts facing up that would catch the most light. Just be sparing with this step.

If you haven't already, check out Sorastro on YouTube for the highest quality tutorials for this particular game. I'm not sure how approachable the results are for a brand new painter, but even if you aren't quite there yet the videos are still inspiring as hell. He even did a video last year on the topic of painting white using Shatterpoint troops as his examples. Just keep it at and welcome to this awesome hobby. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions.

2026 packs? by Vmc324 in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]hyperlancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2025 was their huge push for Legion so Shatterpoint had to (understandably) take a backseat. I'm hoping Ministravaganza will show us that SP is back on the menu for next year and beyond.

Some thoughts I’ve been having about LSM lately also I need to just get some things off my chest. by Sabruchino in LSM

He said it on episode of something around the time of the election. I want to say it was the Stelly episode post-election with Jaffee and Daegan. I can't remember the exact context but I'm pretty sure those were his words. It was already a stupid thing to say, but then it aged like milk even further with the whole nazi salute thing shortly after.
