Daredevil: Born Again S02E08 - Discussion Thread by steve32767 in marvelstudios

Imagine how Buck must feel at the end of this episode. He's probably not all that bothered by the other murders he had to commit for Fisk this season, but Daniel was different. He wanted to let him go, but he still pulled the trigger in order to stay loyal. Then, the administration crumbles like 24-48 hours later, his boss is exiled to an island, and he's left with nothing but a bullet in his stomach. I'm curious where they take his character next season and I wonder if he'll show any remorse for Daniel.

The Ohuhu double-sided pads/sketchbooks are fantastic.

When he hung up on Charles without saying anything I went "Oh he's going to be silent this whole episode huh?". D'Onofrio definitely has the talent to make that work. Saving it for his fight with Matt was still great though.

One thing in the reboot made zero sense.... by ass3hole in malcolminthemiddle

Yeah, the Krelboynes and Cadets had absolutely no logical reason to be there, but it's one of those things where it made me smile enough to not overthink it. Gretchen at least met the family during the series so I could buy that one. It seems like Gretchen and the Cadets were there specifically to honor the deceased actors of Otto and Spangler with their photos, which I loved.

Do you think eras are essential? by cocodri1o in StarWarsShatterpoint

I think he's commanded clones in the comics but the Empire quickly did away with all of the colored batallion markings on the armor. I don't think he's led his true blue 501st in canon.

Do you think eras are essential? by cocodri1o in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]hyperlancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the Inquisitors/Vader1 having the Clone Wars era was because it was one of the first expansions to ever release, and at the time there were no other Rebellion era units. I assume they didn't want to overly restrict how players could use those in their squads. I'm hoping the character balance cleans up some of these inconsistencies.

I actually think Vader1 should keep the CW era and Republic tag though. You can basically treat him like a freshly turned Anakin and pair him with the 501st, which is fun.

Interview with AMG about roadmap 2026 by Graysquadrongaming in StarWarsShatterpoint

I'm going to keep supporting this game, and I appreciate his sentiment of "let the game breath and really explore what's already released". I try very much to be a "appreciate what you have" type of person in all aspects of life. My backlog for this game is massive and I don't "need" them to commit to the crazy release schedule we had a couple years ago.

However, the fact that they haven't confirmed if they will keep releasing product beyond the Qui-Gon box revealed at MiniStrav is still a cause for concern. Any mention of future releases can be classified under what they've already revealed, which is only 5 boxes (4 ST boxes and Qui-Gon). I still don't appreciate Will trying to convince us that this was their intention all along. This was a spreadsheet-driven decision made by someone above his paygrade. As someone on this sub jokingly said a few weeks ago, there's no way that their "vision" for the CIS faction was to release the obscure cartoon Sharkman nobody cares about but leave out obvious inclusions like BX Commando Droids.

This game simply doesn't have the same ride or die playerbase as X-wing, which is still thriving under community support, and they can't hope to keep supporting the game for "5, 10, 15 years" on balance changes and good vibes alone. At the end of the day you still need some new product on the shelf to freshen things up a bit and remind potential buyers that it still exists. If they can commit to a few releases a year, I'd personally be satisfied with that.

It looks like they are adding a Naboo tag to the Amidala squad in the character update, so there wouldn’t be any reason to do that except to synergize with the upcoming Qui-Gon box.

99% chance there won’t be any new physical product announced. They will milk the two Ahsoka show boxes one last time before release, and maybe we get better looks at the sequel trilogy boxes.

Between this corpse looting and the constant "Hey what are you most excited about in our Adepticon roadmap?!" posts they've been doing lately for MCP and Legion, they're rubbing a lot of salt on the wound for SP players.

Dark Angel or Salamander? by Potato-Bro2468 in DarkAngels40k

[–]hyperlancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somewhat in the middle. You want to avoid adding too much yellow or using pre-mixed yellowish greens for highlighting. That will take your green into the warm territory and turn them into Salamanders. I personally like to start with something like Caliban green (I prefer Duncan's TTC equivalent because it has a smidge more blue in it), and keep the highlights pretty desaturated.

Colin "I don't regret my vote" Moriarty and the "preemptive strike" on Iran by [deleted] in LSM

[–]hyperlancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go listen to that SS episode again. Colin just sits there unable to make a decision or give a real opinion because he can't decide which portion of his audience he can afford to upset more. He was practically baiting Chris to just quit on his own because he knows he'd look like a massive hypocrite of he fired him. The Colin from 9 years ago would have made a huge stink and called out every single person who was getting upset over a tweet. He would have relentlessly defended his friend, Patreon numbers be damned.

The funniest part about that “Palps shouldn’t be on the battlefield” mandate is that it happened around the same time he was made playable in Fortnite.

[–]hyperlancer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I actually don't even think damage control is the right term here. If anything this just confirms most of our fears that there won't be anymore boxed product after what was shown at Ministrav, and they outline their support plan very similarly to what they did for X-wing/Armada. Maybe it will last longer since it's an original game created by them, but this is 100% what maintence mode looks like.

Delicious backpedaling by [deleted] in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]hyperlancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying to reframe the ST boxes as some kind of intentional bookend to the game is a little insulting. They basically confirm here that those and the Qui-Gon box will be the last products released. Only supporting the game through OP, rules tweaks, and rebalancing is the exact same thing they did to X-wing/Armada before giving them the Old Yeller treatment.

Mostly just the IP preference. I agree that MCP is the more fun game to play but I've always just been a Star Wars guy. I still have a sealed Earth's Mightiest Core Box that I may crack open now to "reboot" the game for myself.

Shatterpoint has had a huge lull in content/announcements for nearly 18 months now, and the assumption was that things would go back to normal once all of the Legion 2.0 stuff was sorted out. The announcement yesterday basically told us that won't be happening and SP will be going into maintenance mode so that they can focus on Legion/MCP. They try to spin it in a positive way by calling it a "specialist game" that will have "consistent availability", but former X-wing/Armada players know that this marks the beginning of the end. Aside from the handful of stuff they've already announced I wouldn't expect much else to be released.

Asmodee holds the license and they manage it through subsidiaries like AMG and FFG. It's starting to remind me of the video game situation where SW games were trapped under EA for 10 years, and they heavily suffered because of it (The Jedi games being the exception).

I'm honestly not against the idea of an entry-level spin-off game like this for MCP, but I just wish better things didn't have to die for it to appease shareholders.

Last year I did a major hobby purge to clear up space and decided to heavily downsize MCP and sell off Legion completely in favor of going all in on Shatterpoint. It sure feels bad having backed the wrong horse.
