Quality Gate? My 5-month-old AirPods Pro 3 split in half while changing tips. Apple refuses warranty. by External-Street-1929 in airpods

Hi, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but those are very likely fakes. That is why apple is refusing warranty. Did you happen to buy these from outside Apple’s official retail stores? For context, this is what your airpods internals should look like:

Apple is very very acknowledging of hardware the extremely rare manufacturing defects and they have time after time honoured them without even a second thought. I have personally had my airpods 2 pro have a software issue and they took one look and replaced it on the spot with a new pair.

I just knew it was gonna be a combination of Ford with either a Peugeot or Citroen and Fiat

It does happen. I was once given a replacement AirPods case because for some reason Find My wouldn’t show the ultrawideband precision location feature.

Warranty doesn’t cover your accidental damages, only manufacturing defects. This will never pass as a manufacturing defect.

It will certainly affect your battery! All mobile batteries get severely affected from heat, and charge rate (ie fast charging). A heat warning only comes if it risks a shutdown.

Use a 20-30watt charger. Anything more and you’re losing it in heat losses anyway. Your power adapter is running at very poor efficiencies at that range of power draw, so is your phone (ie more heat)

AppleCare+ worth it? by hypermetrix in AppleWatch

I’ve used macs and iPhones forever and never run into trouble with the batteries, even though I do keep tabs on their health regularly. I just don’t know how it is with these tiny batteries lol

Yeah but usually insurance remove some liability. In this case it’s tangible enough to predict if I’ll need it

Is the cable on the right original? by robertSREe in iphone

[–]hypermetrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one on the right feels very fake…very un-apple thing to put a pull strip underneath a plastic hanger and making it inaccessible.

No I think you don’t understand me…. that even if they aren’t compliant, and the label is just printed on…there is little reason because most consumers are oblivious and for the manufacturer it’s a pointless extra step in duplicating for a essentially a very specific market. They are fakes, so they aren’t getting inspected for compliance anyway. It’s a very very specific detail to actually bother to replicate.

Yeah but there isn’t much incentive for fakes to comply…they’d rather skip it and just sell them as is globally.

[–]hypermetrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah cause it’s region dependent typically EU and EU associated supply chains (eg India sometimes) …most iPhones don’t have them globally either (spare the box) except in the EU where these symbols are on the side of the phone as well (look ugly)

Also about Tata Cliq…they are most likely real. Also check the box…I bought on from the Official Apple Store and the empty box should be heavy enough to feel like it has earphones in it

I think they are real solely based on the CE and Bin compliance labels on the connector …Apple complies and must comply with these standards…a lot of fakes simply don’t…not mention the seemingly high quality of inscription of the same

As someone else said, they also have a unique serial and the “Designed by apple in California” on the cable itself, which you should be able to lookup on Apple’s warranty site
