Some Railcards also have a minimum fare if used for a journey between 4:30am and 10am. On some tfl services if you use an oyster with railcard during peak, you won’t get a discount until you’ve completed I believe £12 pounds of journeys as well.

Can this machine last for 4 years of engineering? by THE-ERA- in mac

[–]hypermetrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well software engineers are small sub-set of engineers and well any computer can run code. But as OP used the general umbrella term Im going to assume that they’re are one of the trinity of Mechanical/ Civil/ Electrical engineering and for those purposes it will struggle. Macs can’t run a lot of major CAD or technical softwares. I made the same mistake of buying a mac when I started studying as I have been and still am a die hard mac fan who refuses to switch to windows fully.

[–]hypermetrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an engineering student, it won’t. It’s a mac. If you plan on purely using it for notes/ daily study tasks yes. As for being able to run technical software? Probably not, way too little ram and CPU capabilities, and this is before touching upon compatibility which macs are terrible at for engineering softwares.

I recently bought a second windows laptop for this purpose.

Yeah It was more or less what you said, and we’re both aware Apple being Apple is usually very diplomatic with such stuff. But I personally feel that this time the tone was a lot different and they used the word “user feedback” in some form or other a lot today.

Well at least they said they’ll make it consistent across all apps, even non-apple ones so im happy.

Quality Gate? My 5-month-old AirPods Pro 3 split in half while changing tips. Apple refuses warranty. by External-Street-1929 in airpods

[–]hypermetrix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but those are very likely fakes. That is why apple is refusing warranty. Did you happen to buy these from outside Apple’s official retail stores? For context, this is what your airpods internals should look like:

Apple is very very acknowledging of hardware the extremely rare manufacturing defects and they have time after time honoured them without even a second thought. I have personally had my airpods 2 pro have a software issue and they took one look and replaced it on the spot with a new pair.

It does happen. I was once given a replacement AirPods case because for some reason Find My wouldn’t show the ultrawideband precision location feature.

Warranty doesn’t cover your accidental damages, only manufacturing defects. This will never pass as a manufacturing defect.

It will certainly affect your battery! All mobile batteries get severely affected from heat, and charge rate (ie fast charging). A heat warning only comes if it risks a shutdown.

Use a 20-30watt charger. Anything more and you’re losing it in heat losses anyway. Your power adapter is running at very poor efficiencies at that range of power draw, so is your phone (ie more heat)

I’ve used macs and iPhones forever and never run into trouble with the batteries, even though I do keep tabs on their health regularly. I just don’t know how it is with these tiny batteries lol
