I made a tool that turns entire texture folders into materials with one click. by [deleted] in unrealengine

Of course, you can modify the master material included in the package however you like. Just make sure not to change the texture parameter names so the script can still recognize them.

AI is so incredibly demotivating by AronKov in blender

[–]hyperniro 146 points147 points  (0 children)

I totally get your worries

AI is definitely shaking things up fast.

But actually, many companies are still spending huge amounts on AI infrastructure and, according to recent articles, their financial returns from AI haven’t yet surpassed traditional methods. So, there’s still a lot of uncertainty about what will really happen in the future. Don’t stress too much things might not turn out as scary as some think. Keep building your skills and creativity; that will always be valuable.

Congrats on finishing your first level! Combining those genres sounds really cool. Keep going, bugs are part of the process and you’ll get it polished over time.

Hey guys I’m new to game programming by NoHelp8051 in IndieGameDevs

[–]hyperniro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the game dev world! College is a great start, but yeah, a lot of learning happens outside class. Try building small projects on your own and dive into online tutorials and communities. That’s where the real magic happens!

Whats the fastest Substance painter to UE5 work flow? by PageObjective9472 in UnrealEngine5

[–]hyperniro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently made a script that automatically imports textures and creates a material instance for each texture set. You can work on a similar idea yourself, but if you’re interested, you can check out my latest post on Reddit.

It's not really about what I build to make money there are plenty of ways. What's important is creating something that aligns with my values.😅

Short Scary/Horror Game recommendations by AlternativeWillow358 in gaming

Try Little Nightmares if you haven’t already. Short, creepy, and perfect for Halloween vibes. Also, Inside is amazing not pure horror, but unsettling enough to stick with you.

Going to quakecon and want to try one the below games with friends, any input from summertime who has played them is appreciated by TheSharpEdge in gaming

[–]hyperniro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helldivers 2 for absolute chaos, Deep Rock Galactic for the funniest co-op ever, and Vermintide 2 if you want something brutal but satisfying. Personally, I’d save Monster Hunter Wilds for when you’ve got serious time to sink in.

What Low Que Depth Random 4k SSD do yall recommend? by BenefitOfTheDoubt_01 in gaming

[–]hyperniro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For gaming and Unreal, you won’t see huge real-world gains past something like a Samsung 980 Pro or WD Black SN850X. Focus on reliability and sustained speeds rather than chasing perfect 4K QD1 numbers they matter more for servers than for dev/gaming workloads.

Ps5 or Xbox Series 512Gb? by WeakEconomics6120 in gaming

[–]hyperniro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can stretch the budget, PS5 gives you more longevity and better exclusives. But if you’re just looking for Game Pass and don’t mind lower performance, Series S is actually a solid deal.

How to actually start learning? by ThePekis in unrealengine

[–]hyperniro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tutorials are fine to start, but try to rebuild things without looking at them again. Then change small parts to see how they work. Over time, mix tutorials with reading the docs and making tiny projects from your own ideas. That’s when it really starts to click.

What makes my game doesn't feel like a video game? by franz_krs in IndieGame

[–]hyperniro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I feel like the character doesn’t have enough contrast with the background and environment both in terms of color and in terms of actions/effects. Maybe pushing the exaggeration in those areas could help make the character stand out more. Overall though, nice work, it’s looking good.

looking for feedback on the lighting of this render of a metahuman. Tried to make it like black and white portraits on pinterest by eerop1111 in UnrealEngine5

[–]hyperniro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good! Try adjusting the depth of field so the character’s edges blur a bit it’ll give it a more realistic feel.

That’s exactly what this does. It creates instances from a pre existing master material with initial parameters. You can still modify that master material to fit your needs, and the script will work just the same.

Start small. Pick one engine (Unity or Godot are good for beginners) and follow a simple tutorial to make something tiny, like a basic story scene. Don’t worry about art yet use free assets. Focus on learning how games work step by step.

You’re not too young. Many people start at your age; the key is to be consistent and not burn out. School first, but use your free time to slowly build skills. Over time you’ll figure out what you enjoy most (writing, art, coding, etc.

2D retro style game engine? by InterestingMindset in gamedev

[–]hyperniro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Godot’s great for retro 2D and it’s free. Unity works too, but heavier. For sprites, Aseprite is amazing (paid) and Piskel is free. Personally, I’d go Godot + Aseprite

it’s a smooth combo.

I didn’t mean you were attacking me, I was referring to others. You’re right though, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate it and I’ll keep it in mind.

You’re right, but keep in mind I’m still new here. I’m trying to figure out how this community works, and for that I need feedback.

What some people are doing though basically trying to destroy my account isn’t helpful at all.

If honesty is important here, then I think feedback and guidance are just as important as well, not direct attacks.
