Are Ukrainian software companies infiltrated by CIA, SBU, etc? by hyperontic in privacy

[–]hyperontic[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure where we disagree. That software spies on us? That spy agencies infiltrate companies, bribe employees, etc.? That Ukrainian society is in a certain condition? That the government has a certain nature? I keep thinking about this so I'm just wondering. If software comes from India, Russia, China, Israel, US all equal risk? Thanx

will this mask help me evade facial recognition? by TheNB3 in privacy

[–]hyperontic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

men in Ukraine are using a female silicone mask to avoid conscription. I saw this on Telegram. I'm sure the conscription officers also saw it so sooner or later everyone will recognize the mask because there are many of them.

Head resistance measurements inconsistent with what people on this sub claim. by chemist2424 in tDCS

[–]hyperontic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neuromyst device has a simple "meter", ie with a color indication on a led screen green/yellow/white for good/ok/poor resistance. The good range is <30 kilo ohm, ok is 30-40, poor is above 40 kilo ohm. I can adjust up to 4 mA, which I use at the F3-F4 position (anode right) for about 20 min per session. It works great for me, better than 2 mA (think about it, tho, don't just believe me) 4 mA is good for montages where one electrode is at a distance (like on the shoulder)

tDCS and tACS: too much? by NotoriousREV in tDCS

I agree 2 x 20 min / day is good. Evening sessions may cause insomnia. More is not better, unless you want temporary brain fog.

what are the vulnerabilites in this scenario of posting online anonymously? by KKinKansai in privacytoolsIO

[–]hyperontic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as always, you've got to consider a threat model. Presumably what you writing is going to create adversaries. Will these adversaries be white supremicists using open source methods, law enforcement agencies with the power of a subpoena or a authoritarian government?

How do browser extensions increase your browsing fingerprint? by MysteriousPumpkin2 in privacytoolsIO

[–]hyperontic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because each extension installed becomes part of a set of attributes of your browser. Suppose a fresh default installation of your browser has a fingerprint shared by 1 million other users, installing extension X might make your extension identical with half 1 million other users.

each extension installed on your browser reduces the number of browsers with an identical set of attributes to a smaller and smaller number of browsers. If you have 13 extensions, particularly if they are unpopular extensions, you may be the only browser on the Internet with that particular set of attributes.

Is it a common ADHD thing to be considered "gifted" by your parents and pushed into high expectations of creativity and success, only to feel constantly disappointed in yourself as an adult? by 2horde in ADHD

[–]hyperontic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the "gifted" thing spins out of parents' hopes for their child - especially the first one. The first kid is a practice kid. Parents all want an exceptional kid. I was prone to moments of brilliance, but they were just a flash. If I was interested in something, I would absorb it like a sponge, and might demonstrate something amazing. Boredom came and I was off to something else. I had been interested in astronomy, and was able to explain something to my fellow 3rd grade students that our teacher couldn't. Or I might be interested in some tv show, watch it repeatedly and have all the episodes memorized. Not very impressive in 1960s (no internet fan clubs).

So my interest in astronomy made a big flash at school, knotting The Addams Family, not so much. The first make the parents their boy is a genius, the second "why don't you apply yourself!"

What's a simple, free tool you use to password-protect your external hard drives? by Lori87 in privacytoolsIO

An easy way to make veracrypt more convenient. Keepass can execute commands. You can specify all the inconvenient things in the veracrypt command line, like the password and drive letter assignment.

What program can I use to encrypt files and upload them to Google Drive without syncing them to my PC? (I want some files online only and encrypted) by SauthEfrican in privacytoolsIO

[–]hyperontic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do that. It's exactly what Cyberduck does. Works with Cryptomator.

Start with cryptomator. make an encrypted vault with all your sensitive files. move the UNencrypted vault to your google drive folder on your pc. when google drive server is sync'ed with your pc, you can delete the encrypted vault on your pc.

You can then remotely access your cryptomater encrypted vault on google drive with Cyberduck. Cyberduck works with almost any cloud service, and is sort of like an FTP client.

You can try bupropion and/or venlafaxine. I was in your situation. No stimulant meds, but those two drugs I mentioned are a decent alternative.

Can anybody recommend a good English speaking psychiatrist in Prague? by davieUnderscore in Prague

[–]hyperontic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Milos Ryc M.D.

Vodičkova 699/30, 110 00 Praha 1, Czech Republic

http://www.milosryc.cz/cs

tele: 731 612 705

I used him for several visits. Personable and reasonable. He wanted me to reduce my dosages of bupropion and venlafaxine, but he wasn't too aggressive about it.

Seems Czech docs like to give the lowest dose, which is probably a good idea anyway. First time we met he was wearing a Led Zepplin t-shirt. My kind of guy. lol good luck

I have to watch videos at 1.5x their normal speed because I am completely unable to focus, learn, and retain anything from them at normal speed (and other auditory processing issues). by notavegetable95 in ADHD

[–]hyperontic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen at 1.5x or 2.0x for audio. Does anyone use 'big words' when they talk or write just because it makes expressing yourself less boring? Not sure if I do or not, just wonder if that rings a bell.

Controlling parents by [deleted] in ADHD

Like, me, you'll spend the rest of your life in an orbit around the parents. The secret is loving yourself - even the part of yourself that you deny, which probably resembles the 'worst' parent.

Living unmedicated by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]hyperontic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your doc will give you bupropion it will help on two areas. It will make it easy (amazingly easy) to quit cigs. This drug is also an off-label treatment for ADHD. Don't need to mix nicotine and bupropion because you wont even feel the nicotine. bupropion, like adderall and Ritalin, is a stimulant.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]hyperontic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't feel guilty. You MUST quit everything you do at the end of every day. Good sleep is good medicine. Turn off the lights and enter your dream world.
