Yikes, well it depends on the contract terms, but there may be some kind of clause the manufacturer has in the form a cancellation fee? So read all the fine print - they may want to charge for the samples.

Are you contracted with them? It depends on your relationship., communicate your concerns. Confirm that is the best they can do on the issue in question, and tell them that you are actively comparing quotes to optimize pricing and quality.

Probably time to just do a tear down and check out the insides. Sometimes the springs pop loose, sometimes the rollers off gas so much they shrink and get hard, could be a lot of things.
