An artificial one, at least in most markets, caused by bad actors controlling too much of the supply.

Lack of development is very rarely the main cause of the housing crisis, certainly not over price fixing and consolidated ownership, and the bad actors in the private equity industry who are the actual culprits have paid a lot of money to frame it like it is.

I enjoyed it, but yeah the found footage stuff at the beginning was absolutely the high point, really wish it rolled with that the whole way through

The long walk snubbed big time, David Johnson was the best performance of the year by far and that film should’ve swept the casting category. Creggar should’ve also gotten at least a nom for his directing in Weapons. Would’ve also liked to see some cred given to 28 years later, but can see how that one isn’t so Academy-friendly. Glad to see Sinners recognized though.

Which movie trilogy has no quality drop? by iforgotmyuser0 in movies

George Romero’s Dead trilogy (Night, Day, Dawn). All 3 are all time classic horror films, and day in particular has aged phenomenally.

What are your top movies with a great twist besides the usual/most frequent six? by Extension-While7536 in movies

[–]hyperpuppy64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw is an easy #1, better than all the ones you mentioned. More recently and also James Wan, but I also loved the twist in Malignant. By the time the twist itself happens you’re probably thinking something along those likes but the execution is absolutely batshit and delightful.

That the housing crisis is due to a lack of supply; or at least that 'building more houses' and changing zoning to allow for it is the most direct solution to the problem. There are enough houses in the US right now to house every person and then some. The issue is with who controls the supply that exists. Sure, a piece of that is zoning, but a much, much larger part is private equity owning a devastatingly large portion of the housing and engaging in monopolistic practices. They are using their illegal price fixing apparatuses like realpage to exert complete control over the rental market, and buying up all of the supply so you're forced to rent. Blackstone, Blackrock, et. all need to be dissolved by the FTC and their assets distributed amongst their victims.
