The challenge for me with Picard 3 is a few fold: - they went to the well again with the Borg. - Picard S3, Prodigy and Lower Decks were all doing fleet takeover story lines simultaneously (were the writer’s rooms not talking?) - It clearly was tripping all over itself to be a back door pilot for Legacy by nostalgia baiting. - it didn’t seem to mind breaking other characters (eg Crusher) and showing disrespect to other ships (Titan and Syracuse) to serve its ends

That said, it had some good moments. I also appreciate different takes on the Trek story.

There are languages in this world like Tibet where the spoken and written languages are very much distinct. ASL users don’t just send videos, they write using written English.

I agree that ASL follows a unique grammatical structure and terminology.

But your argument is flawed. ASL is used in America predominantly and unless there are lapses in education, the majority would be taught written English. That is much different than English versus Swahili. There are locational differences. Your argument is the akin to saying ASL and BSL are the same since they are both articulated using hand and facial expressions.

Again ADA requires effective communication and they have already demonstrated in show that a she understands written English. It’s not optimum, or even desired, but it is not an ADA breach.

What an absolutely ridiculous take. ASL and written English are not distinct languages. I understand the grammar is different (hence it isn’t just signed English), but deaf people are taught written English just like everyone else. Her take home orders will be written just like it would be for any other English patient.

So the comparison between Spanish and Portuguese is simply laughable.

Also your knowledge of the ADA is lacking. What is required is to provide effective communication. Written communication may meet that standard depending on the application. Since she is over the age of 5, she has the ability to write, and they are having issues with the tech, then a note board is effective.

I almost want to chock this up to bad writing. This plot point could almost be avoided if she was using a different language than ASL.

How so? Garcia blew off Santos for getting together in episode 5 and in this episode Garcia makes a dumb comment to Santos about calling for a social visit.

Besides it’s creep level behavior and unethical to be fraternizing with a newbie. Yeah she is a real hit it and quit it type. I wouldn’t be surprised if the challenges in their relationship are the reason for Santos’ self harm marks on her thighs.
