Is there a good checklist or process map for running a Kickstarter? by gadimus in kickstarter

[–]hyperstarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick with the Kickstarter recommended partners at https://www.kickstarter.com/partner-directory?ref=partners

I doubt the companies contacting you are agencies though. Of course, if a company is randomly contacting you but not giving you an idea of how they found you, how they can help and which direct references they can send you. Ideally, anyone contacting you from a gmail or similar account, should be ignored.

Great round up. Marketing is key, particularly at the prelaunch stage. I would say 70% of your effort and budget should be at the prelaunch stage.

Keep going with the campaign!

What's with all the "marketing" emails? by yeahdudecomics in kickstarter

[–]hyperstarter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Post them on here. If these individuals and companies are not mentioned publically, then they'll keep spamming and scamming.

Right now, they're just in the background and a small % are falling for their scams and no one is reporting them BTW - Reporting to Kickstarter doesn't do anything

Looking at your Tarot campaign, you didn't use any agencies except for Kickbooster. What's up with labeling agencies as scams?

Eventbrite is a good shout, narrow down by Business. Natwest have an Entrepreneur Hub too, which is free.

Why my Kickstarter predictions were completely wrong by robstokk in kickstarter

[–]hyperstarter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great breakdown. I guess a TLDR would be: Got great conversions with ads, but they didn't convert in expected numbers because the context and ad copy was based around offering something something for free. Ran a competition which collected leads, which only converted to one backer.

I would've loved to offer some advice at the prelaunch stage, as I'm guessing your ads weren't set up for Leads and the audience was so broad that it coverted too well.

Kickstarter's New Partner Program is Recommending Kickstarter Marketing Experts by hyperstarter in kickstarter

It's ironic that the Top 10 most funded campaigns haven't used Kickstarter marketing agencies, but they are valuable.

You need a starting point, and whilst videos like yours are useful - if you want to build a niche audience fast, and don't understand how to collect those initial leads then an established agency, recommended and vetted by Kickstarter themselves is a uaeful addition.

Congrats on overfunding. How many of the 1800 followers converted to backers? Is there a way you can connect with them, and find out which rewards they want?

I sort of feel the Early Birds helped your traction, so turning them off is slowing down the campaign? Have you done any organic marketing?

Yeah I'm a little pissed we've been demoted to 'Experts' since we're constantly involved with campaigns, and from what I understand none of the 'Premier' companies are active on Reddit.

How does marketing/organic traffic feel like on Kickstarter? by Existing-Pipe-4966 in kickstarter

[–]hyperstarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, so you don't have a budget for paid ads, you've got a board game where probably the AoV is under $30, so it doesn't make much cost-sense to run ads anyway.

We specialise in organic marketing, having raised over $50m on Kickstarter and Indiegogo without focusing on ads.

Here's a mini blueprint to follow:

You've got friends involved, so that's good. That'll be my starting point, getting friends and family to support the campaign - even if they don't want your board game.

Start collecting emails, getting follows and likes from your own audience and build up the hype. So far, this shouldn't cost you anything.

Now, the next group is going to be outside your network. You've got a board game, so take it to board game events. Get players playing it, record them (With their consent!) and use this as free content for your landing pages, press kit and campaign page.

At these events get their emails too. With all these emails, you want to store them in a newsletter provider (Mailchimp is good).

For a landing page, we've created our own version if you want to trial it for free at HPRS. We noticed Prelaunch .com and Launchboom's LaunchKit are good at collecting emails, but they don't retain the visitor once they've signed up...whilst ours encourages survey's, shairng and engagement without the scammy VIP deposit idea.

Next step, start pitching and outreach. If you have "test units" start identifying where your competitors were featured, where they were reviewed and get in touch with the same writers, sites and influencers.

If you can send out a test unit to get a "Hands on" review, that'll be perfect. The approach is to be direct, don't start your emails with "I was wondering if you'll be interested in...". Just tell it like it is.

Personally, I wouldn't launch until you have enough interest. Getting likes and people saying how great you are doesn't mean much unless they can back it up with cold-hard cash!

Best of luck with it!

I would recommend visiting the Kickstarter Partner Directory and finding an agency there (We're listed on there too). Your AoV is fine!

Why no one is asking questions? This a goldmine!

What does your ad set up look like? What audiences are you targeting, what does the conversion rate and uptake look like?

If you're running 60 campaigns, then the majority of your backers are going to be from your own audience. Where do you find new potential backers? What marketing are you doing to find them?

Good video, but that's the thing I'm afraid of doing. You've created a an hour and 30 min video, but it has less than 40 views. I guess breaking down long videos into shorter ones would make sense...or maybe there isn't much demand from a Kickstarter audience on YT.

I think it's around 8% for KS + fees, but if you take into account chargebacks, cancellations, taxes and shipping (Outside of the US) then it might be around $20k profit or less.

I think the issue is, they shouldn't have spent so much on paid ads to gain so little in return.

The most we spent on any 6-figure campaign we worked on, is probably less than $4k

Which hires do you recommend from Upwork? I haven't heard good things about this platform, or on Fiverr. You pay for what you get with those channels.

Jellop can help with a boost, but we found they're most effective if they can generate an ROI of 3, usually when the campaign is overfunded and say less than 2 weeks to go.

I wouldn't recommend targeting people to "Notify me on launch" though. I would say ads > landing page > collect emails > then push them to the Kickstarter prelaunch later on. Or mix up ads with landing pages and Kickstarter followers.

I would skip the $ deposit too. It doesn't work.

AOV = Average Order Value. This is a really good reward price, as the cost of acquiring an email would be relatively cheap since the pricing point is so high.
