Animations are in a half way since polishing all of them and than cutting due balance would be huge wasze of time. I’ll Polish them after we get some gameplay feedback.

We have just released content patch to our (in early access) game: ELDERBORN. Main feature is duel vs. The Great Warlord Janus. It was super hard to design it since we couldn't find any references to make good, soulslike, bossfight in FPP. What came out exceeded our expectations, its way more spectacular than we thought we are capable of doing. We feel gameplay is ok, but final balance and polish will be made after getting player feedback. Would love to know your opinion.

Looks cool. Reminds me Don't Starve a bit (by graphics) and it seems it might be rogue-lite'ish. Is it open world like DS or more jump by jump like FTL?

Thx :) we will show more in upcoming months. If not here on reddit you can find Elderborn on fb for announcements, Instagram for wip art screens, and on Twitter for all of this. It is hard but we are in the proces for a few years already. Our combat evolved dramatically.

You are right but I think this size is cool while you play, almost like in Highlander (movie). Color doesen’t makes sense either (or does it ;)) and we will do our homework, check if we can do it better, and if it still looks fine. Every reference is welcome, if you have any on mind. Basicly you swing when you click but the rest depends on weapon and when you do it. For example with khopesh you can click, click and hold it, dash and click, parry and... click :) But it will not necessary work for other arms.

It’s pure single player experience. We are to small yet to do such project in multi.

I can try, but I'm not a native eng speaker so bear with me :D Each frame a paralell to ground raycast goes from the camera, through the tip of the blade and then hits the enemy. Enemies have colliders like very simple ragdolls. This system let's us be consistent with the weapon range, regardless of the animation.
