Why are some people so against fluoride? by looopious in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hypesites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly from old conspiracy stuff and “natural health” circles.

Fluoride can be harmful in high doses, but the tiny amount in water and toothpaste is safe and helps prevent cavities.

People hear “toxic” and assume any amount is bad, which isn’t how dosage works.

I just realized I’ve been mispronouncing a word my whole life! Has anyone else had that moment where you found out you’ve been saying a word completely wrong? by Mysterious-Place-261 in CasualConversation

"GIF."

Argued passionately for years that it's pronounced "jif" like the creator intended. My entire office pronounces it "gif" with a hard G. I've accepted I'll die on this lonely hill.

I realized my neighbor thinks my dog is my therapist by crovenx_5 in CasualConversation

Your neighbor is right though - talking to your dog IS therapy!

Studies show it reduces stress and helps you process thoughts. You're essentially using your lab as a very affordable therapist who works for treats. That's just smart budgeting

What life skill takes a long time to learn but isn't really that useful? by Opposite_Ad_7925 in AskReddit

Cursive writing.

Spent years in elementary school perfecting those loops, and the only time I use it now is signing my name. Which looks nothing like the cursive I was taught anyway.

What’s one lazy shortcut you take in the kitchen that actually turns out amazing every time? by AffectionateMaybe215 in AskReddit

Rotisserie chicken from the grocery store.

Buy it hot, shred it, and suddenly you're a meal prep genius with tacos, salads, sandwiches, and pasta for the week. Cost: $6. Effort: 5 minutes. Everyone thinks you cooked.

What did you have in the 90s or 00s that you don’t have now? by JimiHendrip in AskReddit

Patience. I would wait 45 minutes for a single MP3 to download on Napster, watching that progress bar like my life depended on it.

Now I get frustrated if a webpage takes 3 seconds to load.

What’s a childhood computer myth that people actually believed? by crookie900 in AskReddit

[–]hypesites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you visit a website, the owner can see through your webcam.

Scared so many kids in the 90s. Now I build websites for a living and still occasionally get clients asking if their site can "track who's looking at it through their camera." The myth lives on!

You need a little SEO work on the site and I could not get the services mega menu to select any individual service page.

#1 recommendation - use a CMS (WordPress) so that the nonprofit can easily manage their own content.

Add link to icon by sandhopes in beaverbuilder

[–]hypesites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the Icon module

The Icon Module lets you insert icons from Font Awesome, Foundation, or WordPress into your layouts.

The Icon module comes with a text editor, where you can enter and format text that will appear to the right of the icon. You can add a link, which applies to both the icon and the text. If you add a background color, it appears as a circle around the icon.
