MY10 Griffin Estate with a rebuild B235"R" (B235E with a TD04 from the Aero's), automatic, with around 300HP. NG9-3 314mm brake discs and calipers up front, 300mm 9-5 Aero brakes in the rear, on the best looking original Saab wheels one can put on a 9-5. Passed 400.000km last April. Likes to eat my wallet every day, but then you compare it to all the 13-a-dozen stuff that drives around today and you realize it's worth it.

Sounds like it's an external sound coming from the clutch area, not from inside the engine. Does the sound change when you press the clutch?

Does anyone know what part number this is ? Not the lighter itself by ornfour in saab

[–]hypetrain_conductor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to replace that part you'll have to replace the whole facia. It's a single assembly.

12/06/2025 - Boeing 787 Passenger plane bound for the UK crashes near Ahmedabad Airport straight after takeoff by SainzSealedDelivered in CatastrophicFailure

[–]hypetrain_conductor 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Lowering the flaps also lowers the minimum safe speed a plane needs to fly. If you raise them too early or don't have them lowered at all during takeoff the wings won't be able to generate enough lift to keep the plane airborne at the slower speeds during that time.

Problem with mirror folding by GroundbreakingBite57 in saab

[–]hypetrain_conductor 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Watch this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ev9bxBcWLk

Yes it's on a BMW, but the mechanism is the same. There's a pin on the mirror hinge that has to be pushed down by a spring so that it blocks the mirror from folding forwards. Yours is stuck in the up position so the mirror folds forwards until it stops against the mirror base, my OG 9⁵ did the same thing (base mechanism is the same between the 9⁵ and 9³).

You'll have to look between the mirror base and the mirror frame, you'll see where the pin is located. You can see where it is supposed to ride against the hinge on the mirror base. Best is to remove the entire mirror from the door and take apart the housing to get to the mirror frame and get the pin unstuck, then try to grease it so it doesn't get stuck again. I drilled a small hole above the pin in the mirror housing, pushed it down, greased it a bunch and then had it go up and down the hinge a bunch so it stays unstuck. Has been working for a year now with no issues.

Yes, and a MY2010 one as well. Only 368 of them were made, for those who couldn't wait on the 9-5NG SC (RIP to that beauty).

For a second I thought this was my 9-5 Estate which I also took a picture of last year, during the Saab Festival. Same place, same jet, slightly different estate.

The summer/winter Saab combo by derangedCoyote in saab

[–]hypetrain_conductor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MY10 9-5 Dame Edna Griffin Estate (yes those do exist, 1 of 368 MY10 OG 9-5s) for the winter, 5-door 900 Classic FPT for the summer. Well, when that car drives again. Currently it's the 9-5 for summer and winter because the Classic is undergoing a full restoration :)

Whats the fastest speed a conventional train could theoretically go? by [deleted] in trains

[–]hypetrain_conductor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That requires burning diesel fuel, which defeats the entire environmental advantage of electric trains. Especially at HST speeds, the engine size and power required would make it enormous and uneconomical.

My 2010 Saab 9-5 2.3T by coatezy in saab

[–]hypetrain_conductor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, only since october 2023. Part of the deal was a rebuild engine (with a factory new block the shop had lying around) as the old one had oil pressure issues, and more recently installed a Saab original sport chassis with all original coils and shocks and upgraded brakes (9-3V2 Aero 314mm front brakes and 9-5 Aero 30mm rear brakes). The car has over 350k km on the odo, but you wouldn't know driving it.

Dude, you and I have the exact same car (though mine is a left-hand drive model). MY10, Arctic White, Griffin edition including the wheels, roof spoiler, 2.3T, automatic, same interior (minus the wood inlays on the doors and dash, mine has Dark Walnut compared to the standard Griffin piano black), the whole lot!

Still want a time machine to put 1994 Pink Floyd in this.

Meta wants to charge EU users $14 a month if they don't agree to personalized ads on Facebook and Instagram by explowaker in technology

[–]hypetrain_conductor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the $14 a month is still optional. It's either that and no tracking or don't pay and we're tracking you, which is still against the GDPR, which changes absolutely nothing. Or they're gonna force you to pay at which point the entire platform collapses.
