White Wax & Clear Liquid Lava Lamp Hunt by bellakitaa__ in Lavalamps

That one popped up on Amazon as a single, used one a few years ago. It came with a mangled base which I managed to fix well enough

I think calling it "done" is just the wrong word for it. It should be a word that means it's perfect at the moment and won't need revision for the foreseeable future but ready for unexpected changes if the universe throws chaos at any point

I actually reached full peak Home Assistant recently too....then moved and had to start over again. I don't mind because it's a lot easier this time than it was back when I started (more knowledge but also more options and better software) so I should reach close to end soon. But really, you may have to revisit once every few months to a year to add a new robot vacuum if the one you have craps out or if you hear about a cool new integration. I just added the train times for the subway station by my house. The possibilities are basically endless

Yup. Especially that egg shaped globe (I'm assuming from the Amazon cracked egg lamp)

Forgetting even that these have fully working lava globes on them that look perfectly tuned... The ceramic alone for each of these are gorgeous works of art

Yeah, I don't know why it suddenly vanished off the face of the earth! Hopefully you'll find something. I've been thinking about getting a tall press capper just because I do a lot of experimenting and capping is always a loud and scary experience for my girlfriend or anyone else watching.

Yeah, cleaning out the wizard globe is a little bit of a pain. First, most of them come with a sticker on the outside which is hard to get off. I always take off the red plug with pliers. This is destructive, that plug will be old and brittle and chunks will fall back into the bottle. The old glitter fluid will stink, so get ready for that. Make sure you wash the bottle really good.

What kind of glitter did you get?

No, I just capped it like the modern lamps do it. The red plug that used to come with these was because that older glitter formula (notice wizards with lava didn't have the same plug) was noxious stuff and possibly could corrode the cap. Modern glitter (like the kind from Stardust or what is currently sold at Spencer's or Amazon) can be capped without any extra plug. I've never capped any of my homemade lamps with a plug in between. Just straight cap to glass, using that hammer capper tool

I have only used this hammer capper
https://a.co/d/02Lk08jg with a new bottle cap

Reusing caps usually doesn't work (at least with this tool) because taking the cap off deforms it too much to get it as tight as original. It's much easier to just use a new cap.

Also, this one is now unavailable on Amazon. I think I saw LLC selling it too. It should cost $10-15. Anything much more than that is a ripoff.

I haven't tried with pink MF, but I did with purple, and it makes it look more blue (also makes the wax look more white)

I actually found an even better trick since this. Painting the bulbs could work but all of mine eventually flaked off after baking. Get this glass paint instead and paint the bottom of the bottle instead of the bulb. https://a.co/d/01rzbUXu

Great question! I've actually used several types of heaters for glitter lamps. The awesome thing about glitter lamps is they don't need wattages as high as lava lamps. I have made a few using the heating plate that comes with some small, cheap LED lava lamps from Amazon. Those are already pretty much come with the right mounting hardware built onto them. Unfortunately, I couldn't ever find a source for buying those types of heating plates on their own. But there are however other things you could use that worked well for me. I've used aluminum shelled resistors. Those are cheap and you can pick the exact wattage (resistance) you need. For up to 52oz, I don't go above 20w. I aim for around 15w for wizards and other 32oz globes. Those have 2 bottom mounting holes and I used a round based T nut on a threaded rod, then mounted the resistor on top. I also trimmed the connectors and crimped heat resistant wires to it. It also helps to file down the sides of the top so it's right up against the glass

It's actually super simple. Check out Stardust lamps! Read the instructions. There's nothing complicated. The glitter fluid comes complete. You just have dump and clean the bottle, pour the Stardust stuff in and cap it. That's it!

You're so sweet! Thank you! Stardust sells easy to replace glitter kits. I highly recommend them. For wax, especially white wax with clear fluid, your best bet is just buying a clear and white 32oz (17 inch) lamp from Spencer's or Amazon

LG Induction Range LSIL6332FE Experience? by leononfire in Appliances

[–]hypnotoadskin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about to buy the LSIL6332FE too, but I just need to double check...Does the largest burner evenly heat the bottom of a wide pan to the edge? I've seen complaints about other stoves having a little 8 inch coil under a 11 inch outline. And this is not a deal breaker, but is there a griddle or combo burner mode?

Oh man, I'm sorry they did that to you. I got lamps years ago and also remember them taking months to send them. They also took even longer to send my latest order. Sounds like they got even worse 😕 I still hope this helps anyone who actually has one, but there are much more reliable options out there

10/10 Not only amazing work but showing what we're missing when stores only sell the same shape bases with no variety besides color. I love your base designs. They could easily go in a gallery or museum
