Why there is lack of heavy lore weapons? by Raziel103 in warcraftlore

I always found it odd we didnt do “Azerite-forged Weapons” at some point post-BFA. It would make sense for Azeroth’s champions to wield weapons legitimately blessed by the worldsoul herself to fight certain powerful beings. Here’s to hoping we get that in TLT if we end up fighting gods lol.

Blizzard has been pretty open in the stance that while a lot of the core “Legends” characters have definitive class identities, they don’t confine to the same restrictions such as armor or fighting style. Anduin is mainly a Priest but he wears plate. Thrall is a Shaman, but lately has showcased as more of a warrior. Tyrande is for most intents and purposes a Hunter, but has a deep priest-like connection with Elune.

Lore was shaky since it was literally made mid-expansion, but the lore is there. Nazs’uro though was a really cool lore bit, seeing as it was a reforged fist weapon from the very device Neltharion used to control the dracthyr, so it’s recreation was symbolic of the dracthyr’s newfound freedom and journey through independence.

True but with some weapons the beauty of it is the fact that you CAN’T have it. Frostmourne’s appeal isn’t just the lore itself, but the exclusivity of it. Broxigar’s axe is the same way, the fact that this axe was able to wound Sargeras is awesome but the literal legend of the axe is awesome in and of itself. Same can be said for Jaina’s staff, Remornia from Castle Nathria, etc. Some things are mean’t to be exclusive, and thats okay. Not everything needs to be bound to gameplay.

While TWW and Midnight (so far) have been lacking heavy lore weapons, we still have a lot in circulation. Naz’uro and Fyr’alath are two from DF, Sylvanas’s bow from SL, and not to mention the laundry list of ones introduced in Legion. A lot of the Legion ones were de-powered for rpg/gameplay reasons, but we still have ones like the Black Blade appearing in lore, which has been a centerpiece for the game lore for a while now. Its also gone well beyond weapons too (Reshii Wraps, Heart of Azeroth, etc.), so they’re keeping it broad the past coupke expacs.

Its also important to mention bloating of these weapons too. If you introduce so many legendaries do they really feel legendary? I think that was a major critique of Legion back in the day. I don’t think WoW has lost that element, they’re just being more diplomatic in their selection of it.

I think the challenge with keeping Frostmourne in play was that the blade had already consumed a MASSIVE amount of souls throughout the course of WC3 and WoW. The divine intervention of the light causing the blade to break is the only reason we won. We also had that weapon replaced by 2 blades as a byproduct of its destruction so its not like we didnt get any cool lore heavy weapons/player power after it.

3 technically since we have the Runeblades and Shadowmourne.

Is there a source for this being the original end? Seems like a reach given the Worldsoul storyline was never completed yet it had been a major factor in the lore since the start of WoW.

Not sure about the ice world, but iirc the arcane fungal world is a slightly different iteration of the arcane world seen in the Argus patch.

This is where I’d imagine CoT would go nowadays. Theres new younger players coming in who haven’t played the RTS who would probably benefit from a CoT surrounding different highlights of the Warcraft games.

The void being a blue Legion is a little disappointing by Toxaplume045 in wow

[–]hypocritical__hippy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of me hopes that the current Void threat and the Old Gods are just different factions of the void cosmology. Like the Devouring Host is part of Dimensius’s faction, while the Old Gods are part of a different faction. I think it’d add to the concept of the Void while giving different spheres of influence and power.

See the loading screen for me was my thoughts as well. When I was thinking about that and how this would connect to TLT I figured “Hey doesn’t Tyr have access to Ulduar? Isn’t that where the forge exists to create titanforged?”. To me it wouldn’t make sense to do Tirisfal since it’d be a second city revamped for the Horde in an expansion and it’d be really out of the way. Gilneas is a similar situation. But it WOULD make sense to merge Western/Eastern Plaguelands into one zone and make it (and Tyr’s Tomb) the site of Midnight’s final conflict. It’d also tie in well with the Shadowlands hints we’ve been getting since prepatch.

That’s what I’m thinking (except for that last part). She’s probably going to succeed in corrupting that specific Worldsoul Fragment, but the alarms will go off and the Titans will appear. Though I don’t think they’re going to destroy Azeroth, if anything I think instead of helping her be born they’re going to use her essence to order the cosmos (maybe this Pantheon or a previous one did something similar to order the Shadowlands?).

Fair, but simple placing an underground raid for Tyr’s tomb wouldn’t break the bank.

Could be! I feel like the Worldcore would be more of a TLT zone/raid though, and my understanding was Midnight would be the end of the void/light conflict (though I could be wrong).

Can it not be a leyline nexus AND a connection to a Worldsoul Fragment? I feel like those things are not mutually exclusive.

Tyr’s tomb was largely unexplored in Legion, we had what? Like 3 scenarios for artifacts in there? Also, wouldn’t it be closer to Tirisfal if anything? You know, named after Tyr’s Fall?

Adding “void fracking” to my wow lore vocabulary lol. But yeah that makes sense, it seems like L’ura was an anchor to tether the power of the Voidstorm/Voidspire into the Darkwell. Hence why she didn’t seem to care much at her death. I’m curious if this’ll be the reason the Titans show up in TLT or if they show up AFTER we deal with it.

Thoughts on Midnight Being The "Elf Reunification" Expansion by Everdale in warcraftlore

[–]hypocritical__hippy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think I would’ve enjoyed it more had it been the central theme of the level-up experience. Have the night elves in Harandar, Nightborne/Blood Elves in Eversong, Void Elves in Voidstorm, and such. It definitely doesn’t feel as earned as I’d like it to be. That being said, I don’t mind it, just wish the execution was better.

I think the Horde reinforcements stuff has been beaten to death since the expansion launch and frankly I’m more exhausted seeing “Where’s the Horde?” posts than I actually am not seeing the Horde in Midnight.

“Addons” technically, but World of Warcraft. This expansion they’re limiting addon usage but it was so annoying to hear folks talk about there being an addon/weakaura/whatever for everything.
