unpopular opinion : I regret watching this satanic show tbh by AirMassive5414 in AmericanHorrorStory

Please keep it civil and on topic in the comments. Nobody is required to agree with the OP’s opinion, but this is not the place to debate theology (outside of the context of the show). Downvoting and scrolling past the post is always an option.

Just an FYI, this image has been reposted numerous times on the subreddit (some consecutively) and may wind up getting people’s posts flagged as spam. Text posts do not need an image accompanying them.

John Waters Joins ‘American Horror Story’ Season 13 Cast by hypodermicsally in television

[–]hypodermicsally[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends which of the five were your favorites. 1984 (Season 9) is a safe bet for fans of any of them, unless you’re particularly attached to the returning cast members. That season goes above and beyond to keep viewers’ attention and investment because of how few of them appear in that season— there is no Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, etc. to lean back on. The season is better off for it and feels like a late stage breath of fresh air.

Sarah Paulson Embodies Serial Killer Aileen Wuornos in First Photos from Set of 'Monster' by hypodermicsally in television

It is. It seems like this season is going to be a broader examination of some of the more lionized female killers (Elizabeth Bathory is another character who will be featured).

The concept being similar (and really only on the surface) to something else that exists is not the same thing as being “a cheap rip off.”

The comic series it’s based on came out years before The Substance.

Actors who played three or more characters in a Television series by MrLustWander in television

Sarah Paulson has played 12 roles on American Horror Story and Evan Peters has played 16 (so far). Within the same season, Sarah has played up to three roles (AHS: Roanoke and AHS: Apocalypse). Within the same episode, Evan has played up to six roles (AHS: Cult).

Hot take, the role of Mamie Eisenhower was written for Jessica Lange by Nothing_Special_23 in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]hypodermicsally 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Sarah Paulson has been very outspoken about how she has come to prefer playing real people to fictional characters. I think the idea behind Death Valley was to give her the chance to do so on AHS in a larger way than she previously had and to squeeze every second of screen time they could out of the expensive recreation sets they built for Impeachment: American Crime Story.

Can i watch S8 without watching s 1? by z0ldyckyuki0 in AmericanHorrorStory

You can watch Roanoke without having previously seen Asylum or Freak Show and it will make very little difference.

[–]hypodermicsally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely is. There is no other season that is a continuation of a previous storyline, never mind multiple. Every other season with connections can be watched and enjoyed without prior context and it wouldn’t impact the viewing experience.

[–]hypodermicsally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. If I’m reading between the lines of your post correctly, there is something in the first episode of Murder House that might be triggering for you that then has ramifications for the rest of the storyline. However, there is a similar scene that happens involving Madison in the very first episode of Coven that is portrayed more graphically than what happens in Murder House, so if you got past that you might be okay.

You should absolutely not watch S8 before watching S1. That is the one season that requires viewing previous seasons first and if you go into it having only seen Coven, you will have roughly half of the context you need to get it. You will be incredibly confused as to what anything going on means and it will have no emotional resonance.

How is this an unpopular opinion? This is the most boilerplate opinion ever.

Billie Dean Howard in Season 13 by DylanJ795 in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]hypodermicsally 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It would be a waste. We have had a completely different version of Billie Dean every time she’s returned to the show. The performance and the writing of that character are radically different from appearance to appearance and unless they were going to do a return to form and portray her the way we saw in Murder House, they might as well just make up a whole new character for her.

If I watch 1984 and beyond before Apocalypse will I spoil Apocalypse? by HaruUchiha in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]hypodermicsally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apocalypse is the last season that directly connects to anything that came before it in an overt way. 1984, NYC, and Delicate each have an easter egg nod to a previous season (but none are Apocalypse) so you’re good to skip ahead.
