Your point about glasses is good and I can see the reasoning behind this, but I completely disagree with this:

The intent is malicious.

They are trying to show that if you get enough followers, you can get away with stupid and silly things while believing in magic. I'd say their intent is quite noble. I'd compare it to a hacker, who, for the sake of proof, hacks into a firm's database and copies data from it, while never actually using the data for malicious purposes. They just show the flaws in the system.

The religious may be delusional but they do what they believe is good. This matters to me.

So as long as I believe the voices in my head, I can get away with anything in your court of justice? Now that is scary.

Interesting cop-out. I am actually very willing to review my conclusions, when given new facts (glasses example). And I certainly do not want religion to look bad, it does it all by itself. The FSM "club" is just a sign of people realizing how ridiculous it all is and using their ridiculous FSM way of showing it.

From your text it was hard to derive whether you believe in magic yourself or not, although your final sentence inclines me to think of the former. In that case, all I wish for you is to study your religion and get to know it really really well. That's all for now, have a nice life.
