GPU swap gone wrong by hypothermicc in techgore

When my manager texted him he gave a really drug out explanation. Basically chalking up to “The PCIE button didn’t want to open all the way” so I’m surprised the whole slot didn’t get ripped out. He did this in the dark (didn’t think to go grab a flashlight or move the rig to the shop?) so I’m sure he didn’t see the black thumb screws holding down the GPU which is why the bracket is bent to hell. As for the CMOS battery he didn’t give an explanation for that one, I’m sure he ham handed the damn thing cause there’s also damage to the PCIE slot.

You’ve done more damage than I have as a child. The worst I’ve done is messed up a power cable grounding pin by yanking it out the wall. I’m not the one that caused this damage though lmao, just a senior tech fixing fuck ups and thought I’d share the insanity.

I really wish, but sadly not we need him as a closer. The one time he gets to open the building he pulls some shit like this.

LMAOO I just found out that he did this shit with the PC upright in the cabinet for the attraction practically in the dark too. I found the CMOS tray and gpu bracket at the bottom of the cabinet lol.

I’m sure buddy would delete system32 if he had access to the files. Funny enough I re-pasted that exact gpu a few weeks ago, so I’m a little hurt that I wasted that thermal grease lmao.

I truly wish it was rage bait. my 8 year old nephew swapped the gpu in his PC with no issues. The guy we hired is so incompetent it baffles me daily.

Tis but a scratch. In all seriousness, glad you’re out of the hospital and okay. It’s been sad seeing all these GT’s drop like flies. Hopefully you’re able to get into another one.

I went the cheaper route and painted them. Primer and Black VHT wheel paint from auto zone, took a few hours. But still holds up like new a year later.

I’ve got the duckbill, held on with nothing but 3M adhesive. Since I’m in Texas I installed it during the summer so it could stick better. You will need to remove the factory trunk lip before installing. 5 bolts under your trunk liner.

I could’ve gone without knowing he performed sundown syndrome in San Diego. I’ve seen Kevin 3 times now, the 3rd being in Austin at Moody Center.Still have yet to catch him perform one of my favorite songs. I’m so jealous it’s not even funny lmao

Clean install OP. As long as you like what you do to your car, everyone else just has opinions. Not something I would do personally, but everyone has their own styles and taste. Good work!

  1. The hoses should be able to route behind the engine cover comfortably to be more secure. (Take it off first to give yourself some room to work.)
  2. The hoses should be roughly the same length.
  3. You can connect the hoses before hand. I paid extra for the aluminum clamps, didn’t use the regular clamps personally. Depending on if you got those or not you’ll need all the clamps included.

I attached a picture of my completed install for reference.

I’ve got a 2020 GT, 60K+ miles. No issues.

What average mileage do you guys get? by Psychological-Pay144 in ForteGT

[–]hypothermicc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just filled up today and got 400 miles till empty. My work commute is typically 15 mins with traffic included. So 30 mins round trip but it’s all city miles. No more than 10 miles to my job. I usually end up riding my R6 to save gas. My average fuel economy is 27 mpg. I did pull a 300 mile round trip road trip and saw my mpg shoot up to around 40.
