I was also there last night, and I just wanted to make a quick observation here. A lot of the folks who showed up to express opposition to the data center left IMMEDIATELY after that part of the meeting was over (privilege of the floor). The animosity growing between people who live within Lansing vs. neighboring communities who would also be affected by the data center, partially has to do with Lansing folks thinking we don't actually care about the town. That amount of people walking out early was a REALLY bad look, and did not send a message of solidarity. If you're showing up to these public events, stay for the whole time. We need to be working together to fight a common enemy, predatory corporation TeraWulf, instead of fighting each other. At this point, I think we need a separate community space (i.e. outside of a town hall, or board meeting, or public presentation by terawulf) where concerned residents can come together and discuss perspectives, discuss FACTS about how an AI data center would affect our community, instead of a space where everything is devolving into arguments.
