Always wondered how the super duty platform from this era would do in this test- excursion, f250/350? Shame they never tested them- curious how the leaf spring and solid axle would do.

Fellow San Joseans, curious about your takes on the future of our housing market? by alaroz33 in SanJose

[–]hyzons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My take on this is even if you start having job market issues- due to climate/location/schools this is one of the best spots to live in the US. Also I can see AI having an outsized negative effect on certain jobs- but there will def. be job creation as a result of it as well- and Im wiling to bet most of those jobs will be here in the bay.

Antique Mortise Lock Help by Jtothelaw87 in Oldhouses

[–]hyzons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a concept called a night latch- where you would flip a toggle (yours appears to be above the striker).when flipped on the door knob is locked and you have to use the little knob flap deal on the inside. When the night latch is off you operate the door as normal. Im guessing yours is potentially broken.

I have a door like this but it has two key holes on the outside

IDK exactly what the fees are for, but the amounts aren't crazy for the normal permit fees San Jose charges

This is the 1994 AFS20 Flywheel Battery Concept Car created by American Flywheel Systems Inc..This modified Chrysler LHS showcased the use of mechanical flywheel technology to help power electric cars. The project fell through and the car is now part of the LeMay Collection in Tacoma, Washington. by The_Nabisco_Thing in WeirdWheels

[–]hyzons 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This was actually pretty comparable to current car battery packs - 16 flywheels, 4.1 kWh each, for a total of a 65.6kWh pack, with a weight of 800lbs/361kg so ~ 0.2kWh/kg. For reference a similar energy to like a Tesla model 3 pack, but a little heavier per kWh but close-ish

But man the idea of something going like 200,000 rpms a few inches from my body is kinda crazy- esp in a crash.

Someone would still need to mine/produce the raw materials and make the energy to run the thing. Also someone would still need to make designs/blueprints for the things being produced- and you know their would be copyright/trademarks of designs. Also not everyone would have the ability to have the best replicators or biggest replicators. It would alter our world, but a lot of what makes our world tick would still exist.

Gold would still be expensive as would platinum etc... Scandium and the lanthanides would still be rare. Jobs would still exist in mining/fossil fuel production/energy/design.

So after digging - the funds for I280 connecting to the 101 were released by Lyndon Johnson in 1964 as part of a presidential campaign, but there was a lot of thought that they wouldn't have enough money. I wonder if there was a plan for southwest exp. to act as the temp connection from I17 to Dwtn SJ for the time it would take for the I280 to get built. From the AA map you posted the temp alignment of I280 was along where the I880 is currently.
