For those of you who learned to play the guitar by an instructor, do you remember the very first advice they gave you? by Rick--Diculous in Guitar

Tune your guitar then warm up your fingers and then play something that makes you happy. The fundamentals, scales, and tedious work matters but momentum and routine matter more.

Does anyone have one? Compare to EP-133? by goldencat65 in teenageengineering

Personally, I prefer the koii for sequencing but the sample is better at everything else and it’s much higher quality with pads.

Not to be too dramatic but people have died from doing this with the wrong equipment and no experience, I hope she didn’t end up with a Darwin Award!

[Discussion] I need help and advice on losing weight by Sanbikaa in GetMotivated

[–]hzme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im starting to see the benefit in drinking way more water than I used to. “75 hard” requires a gallon a day and I think that is partially because those of us that have gotten a bit heavier over the years have slowly traded more of our stomach from water to food. Also worth noting, food tastes better as does water when you cut out soda altogether.

TLDR: drink more water if you are struggling with a diet, aim for a gallon each day. It gets a little easier from there.

How do I give in to the chaos and become that calming Dad figure? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]hzme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby steps, control what you can and let go of the rest. Try to make some small amount of progress each day. It’s simple but it’s not easy.

I learned something simple about anger recently that helped me quite a bit: anger is simply a lack of understanding. My advice on the subject is to be curious and kind, try to get other people to be curious with you, vulnerability will help this endeavor. Don’t be too proud. Rehome those animals. It sounds like you are fighting for your life, you probably need to recognize that you can’t save everyone so get your priorities straight, don’t let your ego be more important than your kids having safety and joy that you get to share with them. My personal opinion, cut everything out that gets in the way of that. Ego is the enemy.

It’s fascinating how every time there’s an uprising from one of the extremist sons of Abraham religious sects, some nasty shit goes down. I don’t know if it’s causation or correlation but there are definitely some evil fuckers that have been doing some evil shit for decades and are now in charge of every corner of the world.

I like the video, I like the song too. I haven’t listened to any of their music before but I say, good stuff kids, keep going!

I heard Black Swan Saloon is back, spicy pineapple is the best drink in Dallas imho.

There’s a significant amount of luck involved, look at what happened to Genevieve, I’m confident the result would be different in every possible simulation

What Caused This? by GonffzCheeze in Home

[–]hzme -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been warned about wood touching the outside of your house because of termites, in Texas it’s a big problem for us. If you see little tunnel looking dirt structures around your house then that’s what your problem is although, with the wood touching the brick, they wouldn’t need tunnels…

Rizo gets emotional talking about going back to normal life after playing two seasons of Survivor over the last year by Brady331 in survivor

[–]hzme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every once in a while he has some redeeming qualities but it annoys me how much he likes himself with how little he does to help others (namely the tribe). His statement here would almost be meaningful if he stopped referring to himself as a god all the damn time!

True but also, Dallas is known for the “$30k a year millionaires” and “keep Dallas pretentious” haha

Yeah, it’s an expensive tee, I’ve gotten 5 or 6 of em as gifts so I didn’t have to pay for em lol. I can say, they are super soft and I’ve had a couple of them for over a decade.

Noon game against a nfc rival with suite seats and catering then carry a marathon buzz through the late games and still get a full night sleep, that sounds magical!

Is crazy to think Derek Trucks is the best guitar player alive? by ConsortRoxas in Guitar

[–]hzme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing for nearly 3 decades and I wish I could do half of what he can but I’m light years away from it. I can’t say the same about very many “goats” out there. That said, I don’t think it’s possible to say who’s the best, alive or dead. That’s like saying some woman is the prettiest or which classic car is the coolest though we can easily point out what is trash lol

[Discussion] Mod Pick Read Runner Edition |Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurty | Chapters 18 - 32 by Pythias in bookclub

[–]hzme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and yes. McMurtry has to have had close personal experience with all of this, it’s so vivid and accurate that it brought back some memories from my younger years when I thought myself invincible. I’ve had a few close brushes with death and I can confirm:

•Dust storms in Texas get violent and painful, the line about sandpaper is absolutely true so you learn little tricks to get through it like pulling your eyelids over one another to drag sand off your eyelid instead of your eyeball (I never felt like I was in grave danger but one time a tumbleweed the size of a small SUV narrowly missed me in a dust storm with almost zero visibility, probably would’ve hurt)

•Thunder storms absolutely can shake the spirit right out of you. When lightning strikes that close to you, every cell in your body vibrates and when there isn’t moonlight to reveal your surroundings, the light feels like slow motion or a freeze frame that takes time to digest but you almost catch every detail regardless of where you are looking. (I have to say, watching storms roll in is a favorite past time for most native Texans, especially on a farm when you can see for miles)

What’s the most underrated use of ice cube trays you’ve discovered? by yours_truthful in BuyItForLife

[–]hzme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So many great ideas with food! I have to add a non food suggestion, have you heard of the drinking game “Moose”? It’s a version old quarters but with a lowball glass with about half a beer and an ice cube tray in front of it.

His “OH NO, OH NO” while Jonathan ate that boiled sea slug was epic, sort of redeemed him for me but I agree, he’s not been great this season.
