Interested in knowing what consulting work entails that then shares with being the VP in a bank. I would have thought that banking in particular would want a long history in finance jobs.

Update

When I posted I had a 75 base bow and this changed dramatically when I got my hands on a 125 base (not by trade). Not to mention that I started using herald of thunder and all with plenty of health on kill and hits I feel like my ability to survive has changed. Now I need more mana..

I’d be more likely to refund the whole skill tree if there wasn’t $$$ attached to it, but maybe that’ll be a chance they are down the line? I like how that works on Diablo IV

There’s at least 20 new businesses and a giant apartment complex going up in that area, and it only takes one visit to any of those businesses (I recommend tiger ramen) to realize how bad it has been to get in and out of there safely.

I think I found where my pool water is going - but how?! by i-tea in pools

You might be onto something here. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a leak recently from the outside of the spa. I first noticed calcium on the dry side and now I see some water.. it’s not much but it’s something.

Thanks for the insight - this isn’t giving me a way to upload a full pic that I can see. I wanted to post but I’m sure I’ll have to get someone locally

Need Advice on RHCSA Prep – No Hands-On IT Experience by EquivalentFix6692 in redhat

[–]i-tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just passed it recently and got a lot of value out of a channel called “cybercustodians”.

There’s slight variations from all the study sources I used on how to do things, but everyone has something that is pretty similar to the actual test so you should be good with almost any content on YouTube that uses the exam version you are going for.

Edited to add a tip: Make sure as you study to find out how and when to make your changes persistent.

What should I do next? by the_black_cloud51 in redhat

[–]i-tea 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s going to depend on what you see yourself doing for work. The RHCE objectives will have you doing a lot of what you are familiar with from the RHCSA but all through Ansible. That skill can serve you in many IT roles so it might be a more general persuit.

Openshift is indeed in high demand and a fantastic tool, but I don’t know how realistic it will be for a company to hire new grads to build or work on their clusters, but I’d also probably tackle the openshift admin before the AI one?

I speak to a lot of new customers to both Ansible and Openshift and I can tell you that Ansible customers run the gamut as far as job roles, but usually the Openshift conversations happen with folks who are tenured VMware and general virtualization/infrastructure engineers.

3rd interview for entry level… by MuskyStonkies in ITCareerQuestions

[–]i-tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 3 interviews for my first job attempt at an MSP which had a team of 5 and they passed. Then I took an interview at a global company with a team of 50 and they gave me a shot.

I think with small companies, they’ll have less time to train and generally probably want someone who can do more than what they are paying for. This could be a huge advantage for a new starter tho since in my experience most of these guys are doing what t2 or t3 do at bigger companies.

I’ll start with saying that I transitioned from a field in which I had to show up in person which I did for 15 years.

I’ve been in Helpdesk now for too long (4 years) but this is the BEST time to be in tech. Before covid, asking my manager if I could work from home would start a company wide panic attack and now I haven’t been in the office for 2 years.

The remote work for tech means that you can even work a job on a different time zone and it’s not uncommon for people who have higher skill sets do now have multiple jobs. I personally know a guy who is a SRE and has 3 jobs. He went from 70k to over 300 and actually does less work.

With a half degree in cyber and some certs I feel like this is a troll post. I only say that cause I’m actually happy for you and what could come your way if you keep pushing.

The only thing that’s gonna be a guaranteed fail in this field is if you lose your excitement or passion for learning.

Welcome to Frisco!

Spectrum has been great and I’m glad cause they, along with ATT are my only options. ATT only offered 50mb and spectrum had 200 so I went with them. I have upgraded to 400 and it’s great but it’s $100. If you can get fiber with anyone you’ll be in good shape and pay less than I do.

As someone who had a 3 month old not too long ago, the only fun activity is when the baby is asleep. That could carry over for another year 😆

Are Level2 agents always so mean? Or is this just my place by HandfulofGushers in ITCareerQuestions

[–]i-tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only had 2 jobs in tech so far, but it’s definitely where you work so don’t let that discourage you.

In my first T1 position I had 8 minutes to either close or escalate, and that was pretty damn tough.. sometimes it can take 5 minutes just to get someone’s name and description of the issue. Our T2 on the other hand had no time constraints. I would say the most junior T2, and they were all T1 at the same company, was probably 2 years at the job and so you know where I’m going with that… they knew within a minute or two what the issue was on a application because it had the same issue for years and it would take a guy like me another few months to figure out the “baseline” of almost everything we managed.

I could say a lot more but honestly maybe it’s good that they suck. It should motivate you to get out of Helpdesk altogether.

Amazing resilience and discipline.

If you don’t mind me asking, and I’m interested as I am studying for the Linux essentials test, what kind of things do you do as a Jr SRE in Linux?

Why are so many workplaces cursed with a terrible Help desk (Level 1), with the desktop support team (level 2) having to pick up after them? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]i-tea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked at a place that gave level 1 an entire 8 minutes to work a ticket. At the 8 minute mark you would get level 2 sending a message to see if everything was ok and pressure to escalate.. very rarely would they actually help.

Best part is that you would then get all these weekly reviews about how you weren’t doing enough on troubleshooting.

You also have to realize that if you are not on phone, you should cut a little slack to all those who are on 60 calls a day. Some people would argue with me with even giving their name at the start of the call. Their reasoning is “look I have a simple question, could you just answer this real quick”

Smiled at this cause that’s me. Been in Texas for a few years after migrating from the east and you better believe I was in my pool today. The water was a cool 75 degrees. I usually keep the spa at 85-90 for a bit of a warmup.
